Absolutely no help for mental health now. I went and saw someone Sunday from the access team to be told 12 months before I can see anyone unless I pay private absolute joke no wonder so many people are taking their own lifes

I tried to take my own life 5 weeks ago and it failed. I was referred to the mental health access team it took me 4 weeks to get an appointment with them to be told I would have to wait 12 months for another referral. They said if I feel suicidal again phone 999 it's unbelievable

If you want to talk, feel free to drop me a message any time. And there are plenty of avenues to go down in terms of support through various charities.

As I say, more than willing to help buddy.

I'm sorry to hear that, and really ******* glad you failed. The formal support might not be there, but if you ever want a chat, or to get anything off your chest there'll always be someone on here (myself included) willing to talk/listen.

You didn't fail mate, you succeeded in not taking your life. As horrible as life may be at times it's the greatest gift there is and I hope that somehow you get all the help you need to get yourself sorted and as others have said even if that isn't professional help you'll find it's there in buckets from amateurs and friends and you can count every single person on here as a friend.

There's an organisation 'Barnsley Men's Shed' based in Worsborough - check the web-site. Contact number - 07581 560 285 - run by a guy called Philip.

Sorry to hear about your situation at the moment - I'd like to add my name to the kiss of people you can contact. Had struggles myself over the last 30 years - can offer some advice or just a listening ear. Take care mate

Hi Dillydilly, to add to the offers of help and understanding, there's a talk club called wetalkclub which is supported by BBC journalist Mike McCarthy (not our BFC Mick) where you can let it all flow out.

Had similar experiences. And the quality of mental health professionals varies wildly; some are fantastic and some are just... cold. Hope things pick up for both of you in this thread, COVID etc has pushed a few too many past their breaking point who were already struggling previously.

Mate I was in your position in 2010, thankfully I ended up in Barnsley hospital. Like many others have said, you're not alone. I know how far you have to fall to get to that frame of mind. PM if you need a chat, we don't need to just talk about mental health. Also please try some of the groups suggested by others.

    Again mate you aren't alone

Hang in there. We mental health professionals do care and whilst it may not feel like that when being told of wait lists etc that's not a reflection of how we feel, it is just how overloaded the NHS is. I am glad you are talking about it. Keep talking about it :)

Well done for saying something about your issues mate. It's brave of you to do that. I can only echo what others on here have said and say that there are a lot of people you can still turn to even if its just us lot on here. You may feel very isolated at the moment but there is always another day and on one of those other days you'll turn the corner. You maybe wont be able to recognise that at the moment but you will... Start by having a natter with someone who you think you can trust if you feel up to it..
    Best wishes.

Chin up mate. Heartbreaking read. Just think about it. You are not alone. I would say more than half of the world are the same now. Alot of things wrong in the world but we as people can change that.
