Hi, my telly has decided to only have a blank screen.

I therefore am in the market for a new one. Thinking about 50” but not sure of anything else. Does anyone have a suggestion of a reasonably priced decent picture tv?

You don’t want less than 50” for a main TV. Check hot UK deals for the best deals around. Buy from Richer Sounds - they price match and offer extended warranties for free.

Bought a 75” Samsung tv. Previously had 55”.

Thought it was ridiculously too big at first but love it now.

I got a 65" Phillips with ambilight a few years ago, at first it seems ridiculous but you get used to having a massive screen, sport is definitely better. When we moved we decided to have it mounted on the chimney breast and it looks great since the TV is a couple of inches smaller at each side. Ambilight is definitely worth it, I thought it might be a bit gimmicky but I do find it makes a difference in creating an atmosphere. It also works with our Hue lightbulbs but I don't keep that on.

It's strange how they shrink over time. When we first got our 55" it was like a cinema screen. Now it looks tiny and I want a 75". Where will it end? I suppose the walls are only so long.

I got my 55 inch Panasonic from Argos. £355 on sale. That was back in 2019 though. I just bought a 55 inch Panasonic for bedroom for £50 (garage clearance). Shop around.

Have you thought about getting it repaired? There are a lot of electrical/electronic repairers starting up nowadays in order to try to stop land-fill sites being used to dump TVs etc, it's a new "Green" industry. It's vital that the Human race get out of the "throw-away consumerism" that we've all been into for the last 50 years....

I was going to sell it as a repairable on eBay. It’s a 42” which has been alluded to in here as a bit small. But I suppose it’s what I did with it that counts…

I don’t want to be paying in to the thousands, but want a decent none flickering image.

I don’t think you can go far wrong with richer sounds. Decide on your budget and then pop there (Leeds or Sheff) and they will be very helpful

I got a Phillips CD Recorder from there. Bought it as a novelty item for my stacker system. Within a few weeks my Dad installed a re-writer drive on his computer. This coupled with the disks being twice the price of computer ones rendered it obsolete.
