Just had my weekly look at fowls talk.(the site that keeps on giving)
Allus wondered why all the ads.
they’ve created a thread where they are on about having a subscription fee to fund/improve the site and getting rid of the ads.
Not knowing how this type of thing works. What is the difference with running this site and theirs.

No idea of what costs he incurs. But why hasn’t a subscription fee been brought in. To cover em. If that’s the case.

No idea and not my place to answer, but I’d be surprised if 25% of the people on here would pay a monthly subscription

Absolutely loko. I wouldn’t Ask him to divulge. I assume (rightly or wrongly) for fowlstalk to allow ads, it’s a source of income. Which appears they take enough. To sponsor players, Give to charity etc.
I may be a prudent Yorkshireman. (Old goat lol) But I would hate for him to be well out of pocket. For something most of us on here partake, and invariably enjoy the crack so to speak. Out of all social media outlets. This is my go to site.

The server it runs on costs about 50 quid a month. It has a few other things on like the trust website and it did have some business websites of my own and as such until very recently it was an expense of my consulting company. That's closing down now (damn you IR35) so at some point in the future I might get my begging bowl out. Probably if and when we decide to upgrade to Xenforo v2 which is a few hundred quid licence cost. Dont really like the idea of adverts though.

So they want people to pay to use a social media website when you they can just chat for free about their club elsewhere like on Facebook or Twitter? Barmy. Ads are a pain in the backside as well.
