Rubbish game, very poor performance but also spoiled by fans fighting. My daughter who loves following the Reds was really tearful as fans fighting each other is just so horrible to watch. The stewarding was abysmal as fans just congregated on the stairs so people had to sit where they could. It was a cracking atmosphere marred by the performance and some fans.
It's always sad to see and one of the reasons I really dislike away games, especially at far away games like this where fans make a day or even weekend of it. The longer they have there the more they drink, the more they drink the more that a small number get aggressive.
Sounds like all in all a terrible afternoon i hope your daughter is ok and still wants to follow us home and away.
Went to Bolton earlier this season and was reminded why I never go to away games. Will certainly not be making the same mistake again.
The further away, away games tend to be better unless it's a coastal town or a London club (even they tend not to be that bad)
She does as explained that decent reds fans would have stopped it getting out of hand but was in the row in front of us and a big guy picking on a quiet bloke, hate bullies, especially when they are our own fans. Unfortunately the football isn’t inspiring for our future fans either at the moment so will be harder to persuade her when it’s a cold winter day.
Don't know if it was the same incident but a guy a few rows behind me (in a yellow shirt) was kicked out. I didn't see what happened but a LOT of people pointed him out. I think he'd punched or pushed someone.
They aren’t there for the game, just to taunt and scrap with the opposition support. Cretins. Just that.
Too many regular away travellers cannot handle their booze. I would be surprised if some people saw any of the game because of them. It's OK to stand all game for younger people, but many older fans wouldn't have had much of a view. It was hard enough at times to see because of the posts and the advertising boards hiding the touchline, without people never sitting down. It would be far better on trips if you could book a specific seat when buying away like people can for home games or just have unreserved seating. Either way standing people can shift to the back and people sitting can book near the front.
Me and my kids just moved away from where a smoke canister came flying in, Some foul people at away games, hard lad and mates front row block C front stood up the full game abusing players, Brittain responded back to him, then all the young nobheads came to where we were at the end. Bad game spoiled more so by barnsley fans again. There were some lovely older fans sat near us all looking on in disgust but i wont accept anyone defending these idiots.
