Is that, "Not good enough for Barnsley" Kenny Dougall I see in the victorious Blackpool team?

Not watched today’s game but always rated Dougall. Never understood why various managers didn’t pick him & always felt we looked a better team with him in it.

I remember seeing Alex Mowatt post that Dougall was his best midfield partner & I’d agree with him.

Should have been booked in the first 15 mins for a foul when Styles got away from him, but didn’t he then made similar tactical fouls throughout the game to break what rhythm we didn’t have anyway.

Kenny Dougall isn’t good enough for the championship. That’s why when he left us he ended up at Blackpool. Great player for us and no animosity.

shockingly no one was crowing about the fact don’t have dougall until today. Could it just be another reason to bash the club?

Good for you and there’s certainly nothing wrong with your opinion. But you get the broader point I’m making though right?

In general yes but with Dougall there were loads of us who rated him.

I liked him but too but as a championship starter I’m not so sure.

He had a bad injury though didn’t he? Probably made sense to drop down to a level where he was more comfortable.

I thought he was great for us, so it’s good to see him doing well.

After his injury, he dropped down the pecking order and therefore lost game time.

The little he did play, was more about getting his fitness and sharpness back.

Then he went to Blackpool and kicked on from there.

I suspect he would have done well for us if not for the injury - but that’s football unfortunately. He was certainly a great player before his injury.

Our problem with center midfield on Saturday was styles and Benson looked weak as piss together.

yep, broke his leg vs Donny (I think) and made the mistake of playing on. It cost him recovery time.

I rated him - loved his style and always recall his attempted chip against Oxford on the first game of the promotion season vs Oxford from halfway. Led to an outstanding save.

Palmer looked much better when he came on, though that was when Blackpool had started to drop deep to be fair.

I'd be picking a midfield three of Benson, Gomes and Palmer, with Styles LWB. One of the front three always seems redundant given we're not pressing that high up the pitch any more, so may as well go 3-5-2.

People aren't bashing the club though. Overall I think the current owners have done a pretty good job. I have some reservations but unless the club is owned by a total BFC loving philanthropist I'd suggest it would be healthy to always have a slight wariness.
People are concerned about how things are going at the minute on the pitch and, let's be honest, they're not going well.

Was anyone complaining when he left? Was anyone mentioning him last season? Anybody looks good against us at the minute.

I'd do the same. Gomes holding mid with Benson and probably Palmer ahead of him. Perhaps, if he shines at Oxford, Kane in one of those two slots.

Totally agree,no point playing three up top when there's no service and we're weak as piss in midfield. We need to shore up midfield.Kenny Dougal type springs to mind :) sitting behind the more advanced midfielders breaking up play and getting stuck in.Unfortunately ours can't tackle a paper bag !.

I agree Haven't been impressed with styles in center so far this season and if we are going to persist in that he needs to be in a 3 and not 2 in the center. Was one of the best lwbs in the division last season now were playing him central with ben Williams at lwb.
