Hope we do win tonight. I do have some sympathy for him. What's gone on with Cole, Oulare and Isseka is an absolute car crash in every respect.
I think the half way mark is too late. I also think we're giving the players too much credit. I look back at 19/20 season. I don't think these players as as good as some think they are. That's why they needed strong leadership like a Val.
In that case then, perhaps Schopp is doing a decent job keeping us out of the relegation zone....? In all seriousness, the truth is probably somewhere in between. The players are underperforming, and the coach has not yet worked out how to get the best of them. Hopefully this changes ASAP.
Don't claim to be a better fan than anyone its just frustrating giving up time and money to watch the football been served up asking if you shared the frustration, if he had won 9 league games and we were still in the cup he gets poached he would be long gone and show no loyalty so why should I as a fan after what I've seen so far? For me he has to get 4 points from the next 2 or at least show some attacking intentions, we have scored 1 goal in 4 games. But that's just my opinion I know you find it hard to understand anyone else's opinions. Didn't you get banned off here for a while not so long ago for belittling other posters and abusing the Luton fan who posted?
Yes, I got suspended for 10 days after my dad died at Christmas and I'd had a few beers and had a go at Pelly for only posting on here when Luton had won. I also had a go at a poster regarding Brexit - I since apologised to Loko and Pontyrich (I think it was) because I was out of order, but after explaining my personal circumstances they very graciously accepted my apology. I was out of order, and after drinking too much incorrectly swore and offended other posters. Don't see what the relevance to this conversation though, but thanks for reminding me about the loss of my Father.
Didn't know those were the reasons sorry for the loss of your dad, you just seemed to be a little sharp and belittling to me as my opinion differed to yours. Anyways time for a rest from the board for myself people know my thoughts on the current situation.
Thank you. I don't mean to come across as belittling - maybe my posting style is a bit dickish, and I'm sorry if that's got your goat. You don't need to take a break from the board at all - everyone's opinion differs and debate is good. Maybe I need to stop being an arsehole more often. Here's to 3 points tonight and hopefully an upturn in fortunes.
I put my foot in it all the time. It happens to the best of us. You're one of the posters I can best share my anguish with. If it wasn't for you I'd need to write to Deirdre.
There is nothing fair about that post at all, in fact it just simply isn’t true. Absolutely gobsmacked on how anybody can come that conclusion. Of course he had games where he didn’t play particular well, or wasn’t as effective, but his performances and leadership for a very large part of the season were excellent. QPR away for example wasn’t in the first part of the season and there were others as well
Playing devils advocate we are somewhere between both @Fonzie and @redrum assessment of the coach so far. When I started going late 70's, there was no rush, rush, rush culture and you could easily give a manager one, maybe two seasons to form a side. It helped that players stayed around longer allowing a nucleus to gel and develop. Fast forward to maybe Viv Anderson's time, and fans would grow restless after half a season perhaps? Modern days - well, I posted tongue in cheek a while back that the time would come in the top flight where gaffers would be judged on a months work. Watford are nearly there with that model!! So 9 games, seems harsh on one hand, expected on the other. So taking Redrum's view, 2 crap peformances could see him out, and I can see the logic whilst not necessarily agreeing with it. But looking at Fonzies view, if we do get rid, and the next gaffer is a dud, then logically he could be gone by the busy Xmas schedule. Though realistically, it will be a caretaker stint, such is our model, so gaffer #2 may last til Easter. Personally, I am as bad as the next fan in forming quick judgements on gaffers. Not a bad thing, as I have seen us for a long time now and know the type of man who can give us a persona that the crowd respond to. Danny W did that, looking all dapper on the touchline having formed a bond as a player and having a clear method of playing. Stendel did that too, more recently. The first game v Oxford gave us free-flowing football, passion on the touchline, beaming smile and beers with the fans. A PROPER connection. Morais gave us nothing; didn't even try. In MS early days, barely any rapport with the fans, tinkering and a laboured style. Limited communication, no connection. Yet. I still hope deep down that we stuff Forest tonight, by a rugby score, playing the type of football we played against QPR (1st half) and the gaffer comes on to the pitch shouting himself hoarse, fist-pumping - nay windmilling - towards the fans, hugging his team and gives an impassioned post-match interview that kick-starts us to a decent season.
He was the best midfielder in the league last season, completely dictating everything we did & when we did it. Mental that folk thought we wouldn't miss him.
Mowatt left a massive hole in our side. He was the reason that we were able to play the formation we did with only 2 CMs, with the ground he covered and his set piece delivery was a big part of a lot of our goals. I’d hoped that Styles might be able to step in, and he might’ve been able to do if we were still playing the same tactics as last season, but not quite worked for him this year. Mainly because the formation doesn’t seem to fit the tactics used.
Correct, well spotted, but there are some very good player who lack pace albeit not the World’s best.
I do like Alex but I'd imagine him to be like Hourihane, not quite good enough for the Prem but one of the better midfielders in the Championship.
Thanks, I think my posts have become abit repetitive over the past week or so and for that reason I'm going to refrain from engaging in debates about schopps future untill after the millwall game minium. I just belive we have a good group of players not been played to there strengths and I don't belive they buy into schopps tactics. I haven't seen anything that inspires me that things will change, but I hope im proved wrong looking for a better performance and 3 points tonight.
