    Here’s why,
He’s took over from a ‘lucky’ manager, Ishmael came at a time when we had a young fit squad which were ripe for his high pressing long ball style.
We had a powerful bulldozer of a player who scared defenders and was an ideal target man.
To aid his tactics the ‘engine room’ players could run themselves into the ground in one half because of the unusual 5 substitute rule.
The young team could play for almost a whole season without the added pressures of a baying crowd waiting for them to make mistakes.
Then the ‘lucky’ manager leaves and takes the ‘heart’ (Mowatt) out of our side.
Also the ‘bulldozer’ ends his loan spell.
So after a very strange season we are actually back to how and where we were.
Don’t shut ‘Schopp’ up ‘yet’, we are ‘supporters’ let’s do just that.

Currently that lucky manager has his team sat at the top of the league.

    Without a single defeat

Ismael wasn't lucky. He was clever, he saw the side we had and came up with a plan that suited those lads and we were effective. He is doing the same at Brom now and they are top for that reason.

I think some of the players that have been allowed to leave would have helped our cause this season. Simoes or Schmidt could have played alongside Freiser and Woodrow. Kane would add to the midfield and Luke Thomas and Conor Chaplin had high energy even if it didn't come off for them.

He’s lost the dressing room or it seems that way to me .
To get to his style he’d have to butcher the squad and we can’t/ don’t do that .
He was brought in to work with the players already here as was previous managers if he can’t do that then he goes the days of recruiting personnel to suit the manager/coach are gone .

Comparing Schopp with Ismael is in many ways irrelevant mate. He is the manager and he has to make sure the system works - his system. He hasn't done so. Schopp is a flop. I'll say it till I drop and I probably wont stop.

Sorry but he’s clueless! Yes I agree about the being lucky last season in the sense there was no supporters on their backs & the 5 sub rule etc. But he clearly is overwhelmed & can’t spot the basics. The players are clearly lost & aren’t behind him.

I think it's well known that I wasn't a fan of Val's style of play but there's no doubt he had an amazing impact on the team with the way he organised and motivated.
He took us from the bottom three to mid table WITHOUT Morris and Dike. If he were manager now I'd expect us to be mid table. If someone else who could organise the resources available were in charge I'd expect similar. Unfortunately we have neither.

We do need to stop saying this. He wasn't a visionary who created a style of play out of nowhere solely based on the players at his disposal. That's just his style and how he believes a club can be successful - and he's brilliant at it. I'll forever be thankful for how made a shocking 18 months a tiny bit more bearable by bringing success to my match day sofa.

He's implementing his exact same plan at West Brom but he didn't land on exactly the same types of players as we've got.

Schlopp has shown himself to be a poor manager. A manager picks a formation to suite the players he has available to him, not picking a system and trying to fit the players into it. How he persists with players who could NOT score goals in L2 is bordering on the incompetent.

maybe he didnt create the style as such but he saw sense to implement this and do this very well. All the players knew their roles and all would run through a wall for him. As far as I know, WBA don't go as direct as we did, as they don't have a Dike up top and they have better players than us, again showing his ability to read a squad and adapt based on this.

Couldn't agree more other than the West Brom comment. I think they're pretty direct watching them and speaking/reading what their fans have to say!

My point was that Val didn't look at our squad and think of how to play. He just knows what it takes to win football matches and implements it brilliantly. His issue will be when he moves up the levels, and if results don't come discontent will arrive quicker than normal.

yeah they are still direct as that is how val ball works, but i dont think they go long as much as we did given the increased ability they have over us.

Ismael wasn't lucky. He was the most intelligent, astute coach/manager we've ever had and that includes Wilson, Hunter, Clarke and Bassett.

He got the best out of the players in a system that was unplayable in Championship standards. The players would run through a brick wall for Ismael.

Schopp looks uninterested and definitely doesn't inspire the players. They look leggy and sluggish all over the pitch, I don't know why.

If this continues, we could be bottom of the league before long. Most of us said be patient, but how long do you leave it? We look incapable of scoring from open play, there's no system, no intensity to our play. We can point to players missing like Morris and Mads. Mowatt and Dike have left. But at the end of the day, the players who put on the Red shirt should give 100%. I can forgive lack of ability, but what I can't forgive is a lack of effort and I don't see much effort lately

Val utilised the substitute rule and players available at his disposal wisely.

    Lucky? No way.

I'm assuming OP wasn't saying ismael isn't a good manager, but he certainly did have things go his way in terms of subs, lack of injuries, getting Morris and Dike etc.
It's a shame we couldn't see how he'd do this season without Mowatt and with the injuries. I suspect better than Schopp as Sibbick would have been played for starters.
