Commercial leases are very often based on repair and maintain terms though, where much of the maintenance is the responsibility of the tenant, not the landlord.
Also wasn't it the tenants that bought and installed the scoreboard in the first place? Why would the landlord have to repair it?
Whilst he did he also didn't. He paid for it as sole shareholder of Barnsley FC the tenant. The same tenant as we have now, it's simply the shareholders of that tenant company which have changed. It really is no different to me renting a home, buying a TV and fitting it to the wall and then when it breaks my girlfriend asking the landlord for a new one.
It isn't part of the structure, it's attached to the structure. We know that because it's not the same one that used to be there. This is also not part of the structure
Could be a long night arguing with a stranger on the Internet that a scoreboard is part of the structure and a TV isn't part of a house... Jesus, how did my life turn out like this. End of the day they don't own the ground l would pay for **** all in lt. That's all l've to say.
Going back to your rental house. If you put a TV in there and it breaks then its your responsibility as landlord to fix or replace. If there isn't one and the tenants put it there, you obviously don't have to repair or replace it if it breaks. Commercial property is different. You rent the bricks and mortar, fixtures and fittings are up to the tenant to pay for and replace as necessary. As a landlord your building could be a clothes shop for one Tennant, a hairdressers the next The owners of BFC need to fix or purchase a new scoreboard , its an integral part of the " matchday experience ".
Previously the owner and the tenants were essentially the same people and we have no idea which company was used to pay for it or what was arranged. I wouldn't be surprised either way if the club or the ground ownership company paid for it.
You know we're in dire straits when we've exhausted threads on Schopp out/sack the board/Conway and a convo on the scoreboard has stretched over 4 pages It'll be giving the US Election thread a run for its money at this rate, Dreamboy will be resurrecting it in mid-December with the latest update
Think we need a poll! I'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with me but I hate looking at a dead scoreboard, it's annoying.
The fact that our own bench decided they needed a miniature scoreboard last night so that they knew how long was left shows the importance of one in the 21st century imo. It's also a vital revenue stream we're missing out on
I'm too busy psychoanalysing myself and my reaction to not having a working scoreboard. I hate it if I ever forget to put my watch on as well!
