We'll have to agree to disagree fella.

He's a striker (the best we've had for many a year) starved of service, in a system (and I'm being charitable calling it that) that appears to place no emphasis on attacking play or creating chances.

You seem to be suggesting that he's to blame for that for not madly chasing down defenders. I'd love to see the heatmaps for how often we've actually found ourselves that far up the pitch this year!

I'd agree that he's miles off at the minute by his own high standards but Id blame the tactics or lack of them for what's going wrong. Cauley is probably drifting all over to try to make something happen which stacks up with Brittains playing off the cuff comment.

Not madly chasing defenders but there’s just no challenging them at the minute. Maybe it’s my view in the West where I seem to get the worst of him but 2 examples in the second half.

    - high ball up against Cooper, unlikely to win it but can make it difficult, stood a yard off and never left the ground
    - similar position, 50/50 ball on the floor, their defender wanted it more and walked straight through him

I’m passionate about Woodrow because he’s far better than this. I’ve stuck up for him a lot when people moan he doesn’t score enough. He’s the best striker I can remember us having at this level. At the minute though his head isn’t there. I think he’s frustrated but he’s not channeling it properly, another example from today…
Williams has a throw. Woodrow calls for the ball. Williams throws ball to Woodrow. Woodrow loses ball for a Millwall throw in. Woodrow turns to Williams and questions why he threw him the ball. As the bloke in the West Stand correctly said: ‘because you fcking asked for it’.

Thing is, he's captain so he needs to be doing some leading too.

It wasn't a Tuesday night in Stoke though. So swings and roundabouts.

Laudable sentiments and every right thinking fan agrees and tries to do that at games, personal abuse and booing is not going to help anybody.
The problem at the moment is that there is very little to get behind, no real definable shape, a defence and midfield with massive gaps in it to the extent you know the fans are nervous when the opposition attack, and nor real confidence we will do anything when we go forward, crap crosses, woeful attempts at goal and no real efforts from range.
I think most of us have been through rough patches with the club ( some of us more than others ), and when we were struggling still fondly remember the days when at some stage ( usually at the end) we went hell for leather at the Ponty End with the fans on their feet willing the ball into the net, and if we got caught out 'going for it' it didn't seem so bad because we at least had, had a go.

At least Cauley on social media and Brittain on Radio Sheffield are speaking their minds. As anyone else said anything about yesterday? Last season when we won regularly players were quick at full time to tweet how fans are were great, we keep going etc when it's easy because they know they will get praise. But now things aren't going so great and they know anything they say will have a few idiots respond they stay quiet.

We have to play to his strengths though. He knows he isn't going to win many areal battles, so he tries to draw a foul instead. Of all the players, I don't think you can accuse him of lacking effort though. Without him dropping into midfield or pulling out wide, the ball comes back much more often.

He'd be criticised for not coming over then. He literally can't win.

Ask yourself this, who else shows to receive the ball from a throw ? literally nobody except Cauley, if he doesn"t move then the thrower is struggling , he works his nuts off & has little or no support, it was a bit better in the first half yesterday with Cole but Cauley has had no support since Morris got injured & has hardly any supply at all , no wonder he gets frustrated , he is a class act but some of our numpty head fans seem determined to drive him out lets hope they are not successful .

Does everyone hold the same opinion of Woodrow a month on? He’s been stealing a wage this season.

Something not right with him, strolling around, weak ass passes like it’s a warm up, slack concentration, no fight for the challenges, slower then 40 year old centre halves. Needs dropping until he sorts himself out.
