It’s not that he’s dropping massive clangers. To me it’s more that we’re getting done for pace without Sibbick & he offers very little on the ball. If we’re playing with 3 centre backs we need them to be comfortable coming into the midfield on the ball & Moon seems to slow everything down.
I’d also argue that our midfield is so poor that his options when he has the ball are severely limited. But he does see far too much of the ball so I know what you mean - way more than the other CBs. I thought we looked solid today at the back. I don’t really recall their chances coming from doing us for pace other than the superb tackle from Kitching. Tracking players running in to the box was almost alien to us at times - but again I point that at the midfield and not the three CBs. Sibbick was struggling when he got taken out of the team. In my opinion anyway.
I'm saying it was the wrong decision to play both if Schopp knew he couldn't get 90 minutes out of either of them for a manager to start a game knowing 2 of his 3 subs are already spoken for is bad management. If we still had 5 subs to play with then fine with 3 no.
Is it? Or are we just throwing everything at him because we’re so disillusioned? We often, supporters as a collective, complain when a player fit enough for the bench doesn’t start.
Think we had a glimpse of what Styles can offer when he brilliantly set Brittain up with that chance near the end and for me could flourish in a free role playing further forward but that would require Schopp probably changing the system which he seems reluctant to.
Gomez for Palmer should have been the switch & Moon should have been left at the back where he was playing very well & I know that Williams bashing is popular on here but I will buck the trend & say that I thought Ben played very well today
I see a lot of people saying this, but I'm not convinced. Look at how Sibbick has regressed under Schopp so far. He's heading towards becoming the player we loaned out due to being exposed within Schopp's defensive system. I'm fearful that Andersen may go in the same direction if played in Schopp's system. As I've posted elsewhere, at an individual level, there's only Brad Collins who's playing at a similar level to how they were last season. Everyone else has regressed. I have a sense of dread that Andersen will suffer the same fate. Much as I rate him, I certainly don't see his return to the team, in isolation, resulting in any significant improvement in our fortunes. The tactical changes are a bigger factor in our defensive decline than the individual performances.
There's no law that states we have to play 3 forward players and just two midfielders. When he decided to take Cole off he could quite easily have added a third midfielder
I can see your point. But let’s hope Schopp is not in charge when Anderson is back. I was more making the point that one of our better footballers will be back involved. But I agree with you, I don’t think Schopp is capable of developing any of them.
thought palmer was going to develop into a really good player, but at the moment he is going backwards
