If the rumours and speculation carries any truth ( I don't know if it is true) about lack of staff at the club meaning fitness issues, prep and planning issues, recruitment issues, tactical and training issues etc then I would expect to see some step changes this next week or two now the CEO is in place. I would expect the gaps in the fitness / performance team, clarity on coaching roles with Pilkington leaving and analysts to be addressed. The new bloke needs to act fast to make sure the impact of these gaps is minimised but also to demonstrate leadership in sorting things out. My next expectation is to address the manager issues. Clearly it isn't working so far but if the owner / CEO position is to still believe in him with more time or do they think like many fans and maybe (only maybe) players / staff too and to act quick and get back on track after the break.

Of course there is speculation in my thinking its how opinions are formed.

My expectations from the new CEO: more and more soundbites and platitudes.

The CEO concerns me already when he says he’s never even thought that relegation is a possibility.
Wonder if he’ll still feel the same when we enter the next international break in November?

Don't hold your breath. He said in his ifollow interview he was going to spend the first few months going round each department to find out how each one works. Didn't realise we had that many departments/people!

Willing to give the new CEO support as long as his belief mantra has substance, action and meaning behind it and not the hollow word that Morais kept repeating with non of the above .

Sadly my expectation of the next few weeks is the polar opposite of my hope

Surely a Championship level player is capable of looking after his own fitness and doesn't need a fitness trainer? If my (extremely well paid) job relied on my level of fitness, I wouldn't be sat on my jacksie stuffing my face burgers while binge watching TV.....

Another goalkeeping coach possibly coming in, but that's about it.

My expectation is that we're going to miss the opportunity of the transfer window to make the necessary change of a Head Coach, who has lost to support of the majority of the fanbase and appears to have lost the dressing-room too.

We'll therefore waste the opportunity of the next fortnight to address some fundamental issues that might save our season and continue along the same mis-guided path to relegation that we're currently on.

It's a tough spot for a new CEO to find himself in, but his actions (or otherwise) now are an inflection point for the club and it's immediate future. Unfortunately, the right decisions (as I see them) will effectively reverse the fundamental errors that Conway made doing the role in the summer. Collectively, between the two of them, I can't see them being bold enough to do this.

There are clearly a multitude of issues to deal with behind the scenes, but none are as time-critical as addressing the Head Coaching issue.

Id like to think a new management team and backroom staff are already lined up to come in. Thats why Pilkington Sedgie etc have been allowed to go.

I refuse to lower my expectations. I expect fit players, a well-constructed game plan for every match, players played in their best positions (as far as injuries allow), a formation and style of play that suits the squad, strong motivation and guidance from the technical area, and a sensible use of substitutes.

I might not get all of that, but I don't believe I'm asking for the moon.

Asking for the moon is fine, just preferably not in a midfield role.

We are talking elite sport and being at the peak. Of course players will take care of their own basic health and fitness. But there are many other factors that contribute to max performance. Analysing performance, knowing what to work on and what not, diet, etc etc. These are the differences when a champ and prem team compares with a part time one. Othwerwose clubs wouldn’t need these specialists at all.

Yup. And that’s where we were or are behind.

The Fact that Sibbick looked slow yesterday and Palmer is blowing after 55mins says it all.

Along with several injuries to players since the summer too.

Tbh if we're going to switch CEOs nearly every season then there is no time for that!

I'm not sure some people realise the damage and chaos that is impacted from wholesale changes of key personnel.

We've seen it all too often when a key player, or 2, or 3 leave all at once. Where younger players have to be coached and taught and trained on what they should do in certain situations.

But this summer the guts have been ripped out of our very small back room team that is essentially in charge of everything to get the players on the pitch.

We didn't have a CEO. Paul Conway does not have the skills (nor should he have the time!) to fulfil that role effectively. Even less so when we lose the club secretary (who seemed to be much more involved in supporting Murphy).

We spent 2 years letting a young guy evolve his skills to become a CEO, then he left. Allegedly we knew he was going to leave, and its common CEO's walk out with zero notice period with no replacement ready to step in any time soon. The 2 years have been utterly wasted.

We've losts analysts and coaches, head coach and physicians and now we've lost our head physio and our goalkeeping coach, who seemed to have developed a really good bond with Collins, and his performances this season have saved us a fair few points already.

We've basically lost all the skills we had and are asking people who are much less experienced, or frankly, have no experience at all to hit the ground running and deal with a colossal mess. That's extremely tough... if not unfair.

While ever we have so much change every season, we're pushing water uphill.

Schopp isn't covering himself in glory by any means, but he's been handed the mother of all messes to have to contend with which clearly isn't helping him either.

It does look like the owners have taken their eye off the ball, which has got us in a position where the masses have left, some more avoidable than others. Murphy giving interviews just weeks before leaving, saying he expects Ismael and Mowatt to stay, suggests that he was taking the micky. And Schopp has inherited an absolute ****show of a club.

    But.

He's not even getting the fundamental basics right. There's no organisation in the defence, the Stoke goal against us, sums us up. In behind out wide, 3 CBs standing square within 5 yards of each other and the single striker going unnoticed. There's no structure to the attack. Do we go direct? down the sides? Which players are meant to link up with each other?

And to top things off, we're getting worse. If you were to plot a graph of our points per game over time. You'd see a general downward trend over the course of the 11 games. And he keeps trying the same thing and expecting different results.

I honestly think, if he'd come in without the carnage that we've had, and with Mowatt and Dike in the team, we wouldn't be much better.
