And as I'll repeat why hasn't the same aggressive attitude been shown to the tens of millions of eligible adults who decline similar vaccines for other contagious viruses that kill many people? Why are those deaths acceptable without the aggression?

It's not acceptable. They should be vaccinated, if it's free, widely available and they are medically able to have it, then they should.

    What's hard about it? Nothing.

And yet I've never seen aggression aimed at anyone for any other vaccination

You’ve been living under a rock if you’ve never heard people frustrated at anti Vaxxers in the last 20 years.

There’s literally nothing unique here it’s just more of a burning issue.

I don’t think ‘just shut up and get vaccinated’ is helpful, in the same way ‘thick working class Tories’ or ‘racist scum’ aren’t helpful.

That doesn’t mean I don’t understand where they come from or have ‘some’ sympathy with the sentiment.

This. Because I'm not the type of selfish cuunt who wants to impose medical treatments onto other people just to make me feel safer.

Have you seen quite so much resistance to a vaccination programme in the past? Thousands of people on the streets protesting against the flu jab?

like I said, this is just an escalation of what’s happened previously, it’s not ‘right’ but it’s understandable that people are frustrated by mass misinformation and frankly growing idiocy.

It's a chicken and egg situation surely. People protest because they're told unless they get vaccinated they will lose freedoms.

    The more important point is…

is it OK for people to refuse a vaccination on health grounds?
    Of course it is

Is it ok for people to refuse a vaccination because they think Bill Gates will use it to control their thoughts using 5g?
Well it’s funny in isolation, but it’s also getting close to the point where a medical professional makes a decision on someone’s behalf because they clearly don’t have the mental capacity to make a sound judgement.

And it’s not about making me feel safer, it’s about doing the right thing for them. It’s not such a big issue here, but in some countries, the number of Covid deaths are largely being suffered by people who refused a vaccination due to misinformation (or stupidity as it might be better called).

In more enlightened times (before Facebook made the world more stupid); the government could get away with ‘Don’t die of ignorance’

There’s be no purpose in trying to convince people to get vaccinated unless there was some resistance;)

Were you around for us trying to ‘educate’ someone about the US election?

There’s a point at which stupidity becomes a genuine mental health concern and some people simply don’t have the ability to make an informed choice.

Again I appreciate that, but my initial response was just tot the statement of telling people to shut up and take the vaccine. I get the frustration and I can even agree with the sentiment but the method will ultimately fail. It is also the thin end of a very dangerous wedge.
For a change I found myself agreeing with a lot of what you have had to say on two different topics this morning, I did bang my head on a shelf in the garage yesterday!

Isn’t the thin end of the dangerous wedge the larger % of the population favouring conspiracy theories over the advice of medical professionals?

How many people are you happy to see die of misinformation, and put it down to ‘their own choice’?

That's not the case in the majority of cases though.

People keep setting up this false dichotomy that the only reason people would decline is because of ignorance/idiocy but for a healthy 17 year old man the risk/benefit analysis is absolutely borderline.

Why would I be happy to see people die? What a strange leap to make.

You’re suggesting it’s better for people to not have the vaccine if it’s ‘their choice’. That inevitably will lead to some of them dying.

It’s not a ‘leap’ it’s an obvious consequence.

But it’s not just healthy 17 year old men refusing the vaccine.

Didn't say it was better for people not to have the vaccine.
People having the right to choose can be terrible (Brexit for example) but the alternative is, in the long run much worse.
