If you think these owners will pay for a new stadium you're going to be very disappointed.
    They won't pay for anything......

What an absolute shambles. So the Ponty and East Stand will now be pretty much full of season ticket holders with no game by game tickets, we'll have the away end with a maximum of 2,000 for the foreseeable, giving us a max attendance of what, about 13-14,000ish?

Good luck maximising revenues to compete better at this level.

Imagine how we'd look if we'd won two more games at the end of May? :)

I'm not here to defend these new owners, but would you rebuild a derelict house that you don't own?

Given performances on the field right now I doubt there'll be much problem finding seats for those daft enough to want to buy them.

    Reducing value of the stadium
Allowing a manager to stay over a struggling team
    Staff leaving ‘in droves’

must be one of the craziest ever business strategies to selling an existing asset/business ever.

I don't think they can sell a season ticket holders seat again though. So you might have paid for empty seats, but not many that are able to be sold on a match by match basis... irrespective of the football on show.

I was having a bad day at work but this letter which I just received really really makes me very annoyed
I am particularly narked at the "and a numnber of specific crowd management issues" which makes me wonder if its actually a stewarding problem thats the main issue as managing the crowd in the West is hardly challenging and they are using the fact that some remedial work is needed as an excuse. Otherwise why close the lower in particular its obviously not going to just fall down or the media wouldnt be allowed in
For this to happen now rather in the close season is particularly strange - just after a new cheif exec appears

My Dad would struggle with the steps to the East Upper so if he wants to still go - we will need to be in a poor seat by the corner flag in the ESL or Ponty though he may just decide to pack it in + whilst me and my Dad can probably get 2 seats together we will lose the others who sit around us who are all a decent group of people

If I really believed this was only temporary whilst some repair work is done I would be OK with this but I doubt that it will ever open again unless we get to the prem and need to capacity when miraculously a solution will be found - thats not looking likely anytime soon though

His reasons for doing it were quite sound though, bearing in mind what had gone on at Portsmouth, where it seemed that they had been bought by a charlatan who wanted to run them into the ground then sell Fratton Park for housing.

I'm dusting off "omnishambles" as we speak. We're not quite there yet, but it's only a matter of time.

    1.They don't own the stadium
    2. You wouldn't pay the manager out if you were selling up.
3 can't do much about staff leaving.

I don't think were selling anyway just wishful thinking we look to be going backwards on and off the pitch maybe time the ten Bob billionaires put the hands in there pockets. .. speculate to accumulate.

The trouble is that isn’t actually right. The north stand might be down to 30% of its capacity this season due to the lack of stewards available - but we’ve not been able to use its full 6000 capacity for several years due to the design of it and the size of the breakout areas not being big enough.

The east stand is 30 years old, was done cheaply even then, and has never actually really been finished. There’s an extra level for more hospitality which was never built, and as someone else eluded to because it was never ‘finished’ and just left open at the back it’s absolutely freezing in there.

The ponty end is nearly as old and showing signs of age. It’s ok - but it’s hardly a shining light of championship level hospitality.

I’d say 75% of Oakwell is ok, bordering adequate, whilst the other stand has been an anchor round the club’s neck for years, an embarrassing relic. There is affection for it but it should have gone twenty plus years ago.

I just hope that this today isn’t the first of more signs to come of the club imploding.

    1) Thought they had shared ownership?
    2) A small payout to Schopp and keep the team in Championship makes it worth more than in Lg1
3)Agree they can’t do a great deal about it, but the reality is a business with a full staff quota in the correct jobs is more appealing to a potential buyer than one without.

And agree we do appear to be going backwards.
I wouldn’t put it past them to deliberately do this to lessen the value to complete full purchase of ground and club.

In the same boat, also the decent seats will have gone now so it'll be sitting out in the open in the Ponty or the ESL or climbing a mountain and taking an age to get out in the ESU, none of which sounds particularly appealing.

Like you i'd be interested to know what the crowd management issues are as I haven't seen anything obvious other than maybe they want to get the fans away from the dugout.

No, it's not misleading. It's true. Peter Doyle separated the ground and club and did it before Patrick Cryne took over. Both had to be bought as separate entities.
