What are people’s thoughts on the ownership of our club? if I remember right does James Cryne still own 20% of the club? Personally I’d love to see the club be at least be 51% British owned akin to what Germany does. What are the chances of that happening?

If you've got the money to buy 50% I'll put the other 1% in.

I'd say the Cryne's own more than 20 per cent because the PMG are stalling on monies they owe pending a court action.

You can say that all you like, that’s not how it is legally.

The ownership dispute needs sorting immediately. Oakwell is falling to bits and nobody will maintain it as is.

The 50+1 rule for German clubs has nothing to do with nationality. It's about members versus commercial investors/owners. Members don't have to be German.

Conway was inquiring last season to other clubs at the possibility of re locating wouldnt be suprised if this happens again. Mind you I won't be watching us play at the keepafloat or new York stadium or anywhere else no thanks.

British ownership, I remember that, companies used to be British. Now, only one of the big 6 energy companies is British, almost all of the railway companies are foreign owned along with Jaguar Landrover, Vauxhall and now Morrisons.

Do we as a country still own anything of note? Genuine question by the way because I don't know.

I’m not so sure they’ll be allowed with current EFL rules tbh .
I think it’s a season or two they are allowed to be out of the town that’s why Coventry had to do a deal at the Ricoh .
I don’t mind ground sharing for a season or two if it’s to do work on Oakwell same as Rotherham had to do or Tottenham etc as long as it’s temporary and benefits the club in the long run .

But we've got 3 modern stands that are in good shape, no need to move except greedy people wanting to make more money

I agree, the location is also pretty handy for a town centre ground.

The owners have no affinity with the club other than pure commercial interest. Perhaps we have been spoilt by the likes of Patrick Cryne, John Dennis and his father Ernest before him? The present owners agreed a purchase of the club but it is far from clear what price was agreed. All we know (from the reported dispute) is that they haven't paid it all. It is hard to see that the playing squad is being grown or improved upon, and players are actively recruited on the basis of their potential for ongoing profitable sale. So their affinity would seem to lie with their own prospects (for which I don't blame them) rather than any attachment to the club. So we are left with a club that bears the name 'Barnsley FC' and which it seems, is playing in a decaying stadium. No doubt this situation is far from unique to Barnsley, but football seems to have lost some of it's magic for me!
