In a nutshell, depends what's in the tenancy agreement for the upkeep.

What's knee jerk about sitting round the burning West Stand roasting marshmallows sorting out our differences?

How exactly have we let Sheffield United fans buy tickets in the home end? Do we just let any bugger buy them now...

It would make sense to insert a condition into the lease for the tenants to keep the ground in good repair so as to protect the value of the asset the council holds on behalf of the community, would it not? I can't see why that wouldn't be done in a commercial lease. Domestic may be different.

Think you've hit the nail on the head. Lots of questions and we aren't close to any answers. We don't know who is telling the truth and we don't know who is up to what.
Summat not rate int state er denmark.
The Council, as you'd expect, have chosen their words very carefully. Are the remedial measures prohibitive to the club in any way?
    What are the remedial measures?
By the same token, the Owners' official statement needs more clarity, for sure.
Did they employ an independent set of Safety Consultants to assess the stand?
The club havent actually said the stand is unsafe. They've said their are safety concerns.
Have to say, as some have said on here, if I was renting a property I'd expect my landlord to abide by the terms of the lease, which ( based on reasonable assumption) probably says that they (the landlords) have to keep it in good repair.
All the ensuing speculation following these statements is inevitable.
It's sad that we're at this stage, for whatever reason. For me this illustrates the real need for fan involvement in football clubs; like the German model.
The one thing that is clear is that, as fans, due to the difficulties in the relationships (Crynes, Conway etc) we're now suffering. That's the unacceptable face of what we're having to deal with.
For my part I'm going to reserve judgement on where to apportion any blame (if any) until we have more facts on the table.
    What a fc1kng mess.

They're saying that the owners have to sort out any issues surrounding safety concerns because the structure that the council are responsible for has passed the safety checks.

This is a stadium not a house. It is a long term lease.

It'd be fascinating to understand the decision making process at the club atm. Is Mr Conway making these decisions himself or in consultation with the other owners? Is Chien Lee closely involved? And by the other owners? Are there disagreements about the approach etc. I may be naive but I'm finding it hard to believe that they all believe this is a right and fair way to treat the fans.

Changing the subject slightly. Will this allow more away fans to use the North Stand if stewards can be moved there increasing it's capacity back to 4500? It was quite hard typing that question as such a state of apathy has kicked in regarding the club that I'm really quite giddy now.

Proberbly both.. one thing that looks for sure, Conway and the gang don't want to put any money in
Only one of two things look likely to me...
Ether Conway's Co pull Bfc out of Oakwell and ground share with someone like Wakey Wildcats..(guess) or Conway and Co find a buyer and ferk off to focus on their Euro franchise

When I opened this thread I was surprised but not shocked in how some posters jumped straight to the owners are Liars etc, thankfully as the post has grown a more common thread is appearing about the statement doesn’t actually tell us anything.

Having read the statement, I took the following from it:
An inspection was done and was acceptable.
The Inspections are ongoing not once a year.
The council confirm there is work to be done but not confirmed what.

In short we are still no wiser.

It wouldn’t necessarily mean it’s ‘structurally unsafe’ though.

Simply having no stewards in the ground would make the whole ground ‘unsafe’.

I’m not generally one for conspiracy theories, but wouldn’t be at all surprised if this is more to do with our current stewarding situation than the physical state of the stand.
