Not really sure I can fault the box office staff here I’m guessing they weren’t given much notice either and just had this dumped on them
I have a bit of a conspiracy theory regarding how much notice club staff were given but I'll keep that to myself because it's probably rubbish
I can't blame them but i also can't understand why we can't do this online or at least why there isn't a map available showing the available seats.
That’s my point. They should have had a template all set up to send out. With preferences on relocation etc. would have saved people a going to the club and b jamming the phone lines except for those with more complex requirements, but then I guess like many things you make the option to obtain a refund a more difficult process.
I agree - but the issue is the Sheff Utd game. If that hadn’t been on general sale, then the lady I spoke to said it would likely have been online. Some folk will have to move twice to get the right seat.
True but they could have had two maps - one for sheff utd indicating this would be temporary for that game and then a permanent one showing only season ticket holders
True. Maybe it wasn’t easy to set it up though? Or, maybe customer data showed the majority of season tickets bought in the West were either telephone or walk-in sales, so went down that route. They do have that data.
That isn't much use for folk like myself and Farnham red who live and work miles away so now face the prospect of having to choose from the dregs of the dregs. If we ever get chance to speak to anyone that is.
I got through on first day and sorted 7 out. I agree though, not easy and would be better online. There isn’t even an online plan to show row/seats for when you’re on the phone to them either. That would have helped.
I’m not even bothering trying today as Saturday is the day quite a few people will be able to go so expecting they will be dealing with face to face people this morning
I had to do the reverse for the Leeds game when we won 2-0 during The Great Escape. Dagnall scored a penalty I think. Anyway, I sit in the Eaststand Lower near the away end - and the club decided to shut that last gangway, and moved all the ST holders to the West Stand. We all received a letter signed by Cryne and Rowing, and were given a phone number to call to discuss. The letter said we could sit in "any available seat" in the West Stand, so my Dad rang the number and it was answered by Rowing himself. He sorted the tickets and mailed them out to us personally with a covering letter. Granted, there was about 40 people that needed moving that time, but the customer service between then and now is night and day.
Apparently the letter this time gives them chien Lee's personal mobile number but much like his tweets he only answers after we win a game. He's estimated to next take a phonecall in 2022
My Dad went in this morning. We wanted 2 tickets together under cover in the East Stand Lower He is 87 so doesn’t fancy walking up all the steps to the East upper. It seems that what we wanted wasn’t possible and what he has come away with are 2 tickets behind each other with one row between them. I can’t see a seating plan but I have to trust his judgement but I guess to have 2 together we would have had to go lower and be more exposed. Or go into the East Upper. I guess the problem is that most in the West will have wanted ESL. These are in block L3 so again maybe he could have got something in Block A and we could have been together by the corner flag but had a much worse view. So having watched Barnsley together for over 50 years for the rest of the season at least we can’t even sit side by side. Hopefully some people nearby wont turn up for some games and we will be able to sit next to each other. In summary so the club can sell more away tickets and get more revenue my dad had to drive into Barnsley at his own time and expense. Queue up to exchange to tickets together with a great view for 2 tickets 2 rows apart with an inferior view away from the people he has been sitting next to for in many cases yet he last 25 years. And all we get is a refund of the difference in price between West Upper and East Lower season tickets I am so angry I can barely type
Ps that’s for the rest of the season. For the Blunts game we are in separate rows in block A. Though I don’t think we will bother going As an aside it also is bound to have a knock on effect on match day sales as if all that are available are really poor single seats not too many are going to bother buying on the day
Sorry to hear that, that's rubbish. Hope people are no shows & you manage to get to sit next to your dad. I ended up going for the east upper as I guessed most people would go for ESL so I thought there might be more choice. Can't say I'm particularly looking forward to sitting there & the way this has been handled is appalling. Still haven't ruled out getting a refund & it's 50/50 whether I bother next year. We've limited the home attendance to less than 12k and are the only championship team to have an entire stand closed. What a set of amateurs.
Really feel for your Dad, horrible to think the club are putting loyal fans of that age through this.
