I went down to the club this morning and returned my season ticket that I've had in the West Stand for the last 25 years refunded. What a really sad experience that was.
Real shame that the stand has had to close and all you over in the West Stand have had to do this. Just curious though and by no means is this meant to come across in a bad way, just wondering why you opted for the full refund rather than wanting to be moved to another area of the ground as I understand that was an option for you from the West Stand. Appreciate you have held that seat for 25 years but still would have thought people would take the option to move. Again not meaning this to come across as a dig etc. just interested to know.
Sorry state of affairs this is. I mean I’ve been very vocal on the state of the west stand for a number of years but if the truth is that they didn’t HAVE to do this to paying punters part way through a season, it is exceptionally poor. I’d wager had it been done in July, even after most had renewed but before the season started, a few more may have been more inclined to agree to move. Very sorry to see this @PLOBBY I sincerely hope you’ll be back at some point.
I don't know Plobby's reasons. However, I've just come off the phone to the box office and my options are: Row I or lower in the Ponte (West Stand side) Front few row of rest of Ponte Front few rows in East Stand, except for the very end block next to the away fans which they have now opened up. No availability in the East Upper Basically, for our group of 4, we've got a choice between a refund or a crap seat.
makes sense. shocked there is no availability in east upper. it surely not currently sold out every week. seems odd.
Sadly, I too will probably take the refund option. Will give it till end of the week in the forlorn hope that common sense prevails...not holding my breath though.
It's a fair question and it's a decision that I've thought long and hard about over the last few days. First and foremost I simply don't believe that the stand is unsafe therefore there is something unsavoury going on behind the scenes. Someone's not telling the truth and that's scary. I'm torn because due to work commitments I can only attend Saturday matches but I've always been more than happy to pay my full money for a season ticket hoping that I'm contributing to my club and my community but that feeling has now gone. I just feel that i had to vote with my feet and also the current owners don't deserve my money right now.
Shows as well that whenever the day arrives that the west stand is knocked down those who want to sit in there will be in the current situation of sitting in a seat in a poor part of the ground long term.
I would hope that the knocking down of the West Stand will mean the building a new one. The current West Stand ST holder’s should then be offered first pick of seats, or at least given seats in similar areas
Absolutely my reason to opt for a refund too. I intensely distrust our current owners. They have no connection with the fanbase whatsoever.
Whatever the ins and outs or ups and downs of the the west stand what is 100% clear and unforgivable is the treatment of long standing fans. They have been left with pretty awful options. The decision if it needed to be made needed to be made in the summer so people could choose from all available seating. Wouldn’t have been ideal but would at least have a semblance of fairness. This is appalling customer service. They should have offered a 50% discount and the opportunity to move as a starting point as it is they have just screwed some of the longest serving fans over. Pretty hard to forgive or forget.
