I remembered him a bit later when I compared him to Atillia Lombardo. A poor man's Lombardo. He did play in a sort of number 10 role though, didn't he. He was more of a support striker than a Redfearn time midfielder who scored from midfield? We are right in the cusp of my first matches though with Agnew so I might well be wrong.
Agnew was always underated, especially in the brewery stand where I stood. Someone rated him and he did play at a good level. He's been coaching at a good level too,so he would get my vote of confidence.
What about a managial team picked from these ex bsly players Taggett Eden Agnew Higgnet Redfern Tonge all well respected coaches in the game
My only ever visit to the old social club, as a young, wide-eyed 18-or-so year old was to get a coach ticket for the blunts cup game in 90 or so. I came out of the club, just at the same time Steve Agnew was trying to limp through the door on crutches from his long-term injury. I think his landing on the floor probably set his recovery back a few weeks. Sorry all.
I'm with you mate, he was a very decent midfielder in my opinion. I remember a game against Sunderland (one of our four wins before New Year that season) where he absolutely ran the game. Quality.
