I may have mentioned this before.... I have a large bush all around the house, approx 90' x 6' 6". Bloke coming tomorrow to trim it, both sides and about a foot off the top. He doesn't have to dispose of the trimmings, but he does chuck them neatly in a field at end of the garden (I'm allowed to do this). Takes him 3-4hrs tops and tbf, he's good, price has not gone up in 3 years, £200 sound steep?
Sounds about right…. £60 ish quid an hour for a gardener. I was astounded when we had a similar thing done recently. But seems a sign of the times, gardeners get more than nurses if they’re any good.
Our gardener charges £20 an hour but he's pretty crap. I'd sack him off but a) he's cheap b) it means I don't have to do it and c) he's next-door brother, who we hired during Covid as he'd lost his old job and decided to set up a gardening business, and they haven't been a bother with noise at all since then. That's easily worth £20 a fortnight and a crap garden during summer.
I paid someone £100 to clear the banking at the bottom of the garden and trim down the 10 ft + adjacent wild hedge. Hadn't touched it for over three years. The guy absolutely blitzed it and took 3 ft off the hedge. Importantly he took away the stuff - saving me a lot of trips to the tip. Happy to pay him £100.
Every time I come on to this bbs and see the thread "my big bush" I start to giggle like a little kid !! Wish you hadn't started it.
