I see that Lord Frost is furious about the Northern Ireland Protocol (the only part of Brexit that’s actually working well). He needs to have a stern word with the idiot that negotiated it. Meanwhile the mrs says no buses have arrived at the hospital with the expected £350 million quid.
It's only because those pesky foreigners aren't here to drive the bus with the dough in it, otherwise it'd be there. The money is just resting in someone's account, somewhere. Don't be cynical, trust Boris.
It's not just Britain, it's all over Europe. We're in Venice for the week and I've not seen a lorry driver all day!!!!!
And now Cummings has said the government intended to renege on the NI protocol all along. My embarrassment at being British is complete, as is my pride in being European.
There’s a personality cult around Johnson. His optimism and determination are expressions of a resilient national spirit. Brexit is a project that makes the leader’s interest synonymous with the wellbeing of the people. Identical to other personality cults from history. Frightening.
The systern for our WC stopped working at the weekend. I called my local plumber (I have used him a few times before), He gave me an appointment for 28 October.
I always thought that was the intention. Talk about the "joys" of a hard brexit with tariffs and quotas, back down at the last when you've squeezed all you can from the EU and you've run out of time having used every trick in the book to create as little negotiating time as possible in the first place. Then when the expected occurs (as outlined in project yellowhammer that got leaked), blame the EU. Keep blaming the EU. Get the media to blame the EU. Focus on migrant boats. Renege on your commitments unilaterally. Keep blaming the EU despite them offering solutions to try and assist NI and keep the good fridy agreement intact. Threaten to trigger article 16 (despite the incredible damage it would unleash) and keep playing brinksmanship to try and get a bit more ideological nonsense that makes zero difference to the lives of people. We have people in government who don't care about anyone but themselves and the feel of power and more importantly, the trappings that go with it. Agreements don't mean anything. What they said yesterday for convenience is jettisoned without care tomorrow when it becomes inconvenient.
Johnson and his liars will say they beat the EU into submission and they won. The press will support this story and he'll get a boost in the polls. All lies but folk will eat it up.
Was that due to parts or is it because he's booked up? I'm a builder and I'm booked up until April next year , but had problems getting hold of certain materials a while ago... down at the merchants they reckon its touch and go as abd when certain materials are delivered. The other week they had no cement
On a bigger scale setting sites up across the country. Materials delays particularly steel are causing us real problems.
Can’t like this enough.on the Home front Kwarsi Kwarteng tells us on live TV he is in talks with the Treasury dept re the issue of industry high users of Energy only for the Treasury to deny this. The next day they have approached the treasury but without any consultation or input whatsoever with anyone from these industries. Fekin incompetence and blatant lying in abundance yet again. But Labour
Article 16 does NOT allow the UK to unilaterally suspend the NI protocol. It only suspends some aspects to allow time to find solutions to real problems both in trade and the communities. If BJ does suspend the protocol it will be in breach of a binding international treaty. Edit; an international treaty which he and Frost negotiated and signed.
We both know they'll unilaterally suspend it. Or, they'll say thats what they are doing. The EU obviously has the ability to then take various actions in response should they do so.
Is this what the leave voters thought we would end up with when they were conned into voting for brexit
They weren't bothered by complex problems like this or perceived issues like NI protocols. It was all about EU greed, EU incompetence, EU rules on sausages and light bulbs, immigration and 'sovereignty' (whatever that means). The sound bites about freedom, taking back control, saving money and ploughing cash into the NHS were paramount. Most folk couldn't give a flying **** about protocols....
When the dangers of NI were brought up I was often aghast at the response ‘so we should stay in the EU just to stop the Irish killing each other?, we’ll just have to make them behave’. The ignorance is astounding.
