We've started brightly, but this frustrates and worries me. We do this in games, but never turn it into goals. We then run out of steam and ideas and the other side steal it. I'm liking Big Vic's contribution. He's a battler, who would be a great asset if he could score. Iseka is promising too.
We have done well, no doubt. Some tidy inter-passing in the midfield. Gomes started to come alive. Just no options in the final third, which of course you don't need me to report. Reading have looked very substandard so far but of course it only takes a moment.
Never seen a barnsley side struggle to score goals as much as this one and I've seen some ***** barnsley sides over the years last goal from.open play styles v Birmingham.
The two ‘my little ponytails’ for us are a liability at the back, look we’ll in midfield, weak in attack. So far!
Woodrow about to turn of the edge of the penalty area and Drinkwater just pushes him two handed from behind. Ref just awards the free-kick. First foul Palmer does... he'll be booked.
Half time observations: - This Reading commentary team are awful. Truly terrible - We’ve been ok without being brilliant. Much better than some recent performances and have shaded it - Iseka and Woodrow should have both hit the target with chances - Acres of space for us but we’re guilty of not having the bodies supporting from midfield or getting forward quick enough - Jasper Moon has point blank refused to go wide to Williams. No idea why? - Williams guilty of completely ignoring the spare man behind Moon. Was screaming at him to cover before the disallowed goal - Referee watch: twice guilty of not giving us clear free-kicks and yellow cards on the edge of their box - We don’t look comfortable when they attack and swarm forward. Always seem to be five on three in the middle in their favour - Gomes has looked good. Iseka lively. Vic physical
Another one sided ref who refuses to book the home team. Laurent (who's had a stinker so far) takes out Williams long after the ball had gone and... no card.
