Before jumping to conclusions is it fair and reasonable to ask that we should give the man (Khaled) an opportunity to give us (through the fans / BFCST forum) his side of the story?
Technically yes - though it happens at every match you go to to a greater or lesser extent But lets assume for one minute that this is the reason and you argue the case for closing the stand on that basis, its a huge stretch but lets say you do - there is absolutely no reason to close the West Upper as there everyone sits in their seats as its already covered. In fact I would imagine the West Upper fans were the easiest to steward in the whole ground. Just out of curiosity did any fans in the East Lower move when it rained heavily?
Accepted. However, actually listening to what he now has to say face to face rather than indulging in a forum feeding frenzy would be a bit more civilised Helen.
Ordinarily yes but they've had the best part of two weeks now and all we've had is a few meaningless statements. I don't think the supporters trust will get much more on Thursday as, reading between the lines, there doesn't really appear to have been a major reason to close the stand otherwise you'd have thought someone would have said by now. As an ex-West Stander I feel incredibly pissed off as this is a club I've put a lot of time and money into over the years and now they're pretty much telling me to f**k off.
I dont think the letter was a particularly good move. However, in his defence he probably felt (quite rightly) that a quick "holding" response was necessary.
Funny how they'll try to make the folk in the West Stand sit down but the ones in the ponte end near the disabled stand they won't say a word to for standing whatever the weather is doing and for the full 90 minutes. Wonder why that is
Cant argue with any of that, particularly the way you feel. I understand how you feel. I'm a fan too. My hope is that The Trust will get more on Thursday. Judging by the way the Trust have dealt with this major issue so far, I put my faith in them to ask some direct questions which fully reflect how we all feel. If we don't get satisfactory answers, then that's the time to consider what we should do as a set of fans by way of protest.
This is where my head is at. To not respond at all would have been seen as worse I think, but likewise it's difficult to put any kind of positive spin on the vagueness of the response. I don't understand the secrecy of it all, but trying to remain positive you've got to hope that they go all in and reveal their cards on Thursday to multiple supporter groups. They've also got the media the following night as well so if we're sat here next Monday completely none the wiser I'd be surprised.
How many many can go though? The most civilised thing would have been a clear letter to firstly fans in the West stand and then an official statement on the clubs website for all to read.
If he had anything about him he’d have a video on the main website explaining the decision. The man is showing utter contempt for the fans.
My problem with that is that once again it’s a select group of people who will get to hear the explanation but most of the people actually affected by this are left in the dark.
Don't know how many can go Helen. Can't disagree that a letter and statement would have been a good move followed by a meeting. However, with the meeting coming up its time to listen to what he has to say and then judge.
The point I'm trying to make though is most of us won't be at the meeting so will be at the mercy of those who are to relay what was said( or wasn't!) to us. A statement is there for everyone to read and re read.
This will inform us better than looking at his statement to the fans when he first joined about being transparent etc . Usually people coming into important roles and staying their intentions etc are in the job months sometimes years before they are exposed to issues like this . He has got his chance IMO to show us just how transparent etc he is and if he can’t answer some questions then he should tell us the board have censured him or whatever rather than try and BS.
A good point well made. I will trust the Trust and other attendees to relay a full and proper version of events.
