100% this. I commented on them in the matchday thread as they happened, and they turned a potentially toxic atmosphere into gallows humour during the game. I expected it to be a much uglier atmosphere than it turned out to be, most likely helped by the team deciding to play for pride towards the end and dragging themselves back into the game.
Spackman had 30 Central midfielders to pick from, and he chose Peter Sand. Spackman has a special place in Barnsley Room 101. Morais had his, we've just dusted off a spot for Marcus.
I thought the 'we've got/lost the ball' chant was funny. If you can't live with a bit of self-deprecating humour from the stands, maybe football isn't for you.
Let's not pretend it's just because we've been driven to it though. Our support over the years could never be described as unconditional. Last season's atmos was far more comfortable for the team to play in.
You've had a bit of a 'mare here Kettleworth. Hopefully it's just that you're hurting after another defeat and the shitshow in the boardroom and dugout. If so, don't worry about it, **** happens. P.S. Pyro throwers can **** off, I aggre..
to be honest they are getting away lightly. 1 win in 15. No goals before today in what feels like years. The lack of passion in the crowd is pretty disturbing and not necessarily good.
Mardy sod. I thought it was a funny piece of self-deprecating gallows humour when they were singing that. Flares/pyros? Not a fan but was there one or two? Hardly bonfire night. And as for booing Schopp - I think people have the right. No need for personal abuse mind. I think you’ve gone in feet first here at the fan base. And there was no need nor justification. I feared today would be toxic - it wasn’t.
Of everything that’s currently amiss at the club, the fans rank pretty low in being to blame. dark humour comes out in times of adversity.
Smoke bombs ect are a real nuisance. As for the rest of it sounds like you are just as angry at how bad things are as everyone else but you are directing the anger onto the fans. I wouldn't be worried at all about fans in the stadium singing ironic songs and jeering. I would be more worried about fans like myself who are ST holders but have basically stopped attending.
I thought they all got off lightly today. If Schopp stays in charge then in the next few home games the atmosphere could get very nasty / toxic.
Smoke bombs only morons do that kind of thing indefensible. Booing the manager no win situation. Saw somebody complain about him not clapping the fans last week, I suspect pretty sensible on his part because he knew what would happen. But what do you do, it’s cruel booing him and abusing him when he tries to relate but then the fans have had enough and I guess there’s the thought that if he got a good reception it might ultimately keep him here longer?
Get real. The fella is out of his depth. I feel a bit sorry for him but the longer he stays the more our relegation to L1 is confirmed.
