Slightly digressing - one of the most polite, respectful people I have ever come across was Gary Balance of YCCC & England. He of a South African upbringing.
To me it kind of shows that taking the knee has become a empty pointless gesture. If people are going to be browbeaten into doing it then it's meaningless. On the other hand I can't see why anyone would have a problem with a simple we are united agaisnt discrimination of any kind message in the first place.
No sympathy from me either. You're under more scrutiny as a professional sportsman. I know it isn't what the message is about but just take a knee ffs. It's not worth the hassle.
Exactly. If it is a real point of principle though, be prepared to make the sacrifice of possibly not playing.
Ok.. my mistake, there was a player I'm positive on the halfway line at kick off, thought it was Cole but your right it couldn't have been..
He isn't racist but he's made himself look a right *****. If anything his back tracking draws more attention.
Then why not go public before hand? Make it clear why he would be doing his own thing. Make an impassioned speech beforehand? Arse about face at the very least. Some of his team mates were unclear of what was happening. Didn't he raise his concerns in a team meeting? Clearly not. All a bit strange in my book.
