I had a rant on Sunday about Cauley taking the corners. Glad he seems to agree with me.

I'd understand it more if he was whipping in Beckham-esque corners, but he just lumps it in, in the hope Helik can win it.

They may as well tell people how it is, they can’t all be disciplined/dropped.

Even if he did take great corners, the most dangerous place Cauley can be is on the edge of the box, he’s a one touch striker.
Both Callum’s can take corners, isn’t Benson supposed to be a ‘dead ball specialist’ too?

I’ve bemoaned the lack of set piece organisation for years (even Stendel’s team were rubbish at set pieces).

but last year it clicked, with AM becoming the set piece coach and practicing them on match days, all of a sudden we’d get an occasional goal from a set piece, it’s criminal to have dispensed with all that knowledge.

You only get dropped if you have a good game (Hondermarck) or adlib (Iseka and Cole). If you play crap or are ineffective you play most weeks.

I’ve thought this for the last few games. I normally stick up for managers and head coaches with the old “they see them every day” mantra.

His treatment of the 3 you mentioned is bizarre though! To my untrained eye there’s only 5 or 6 that should be certain starters at the minute and 3 of them are Will, ALI and Cole!!

Half way through our losing run in 2015 Lee Johnson buckled to fan pressure and picked a decent 11 just to shut the fans up. The performance was better but we still lost. He didn't give it a chance until he was eventually forced to and more or less said "look I've tried it but Hourihane can't play in a two etc".

I see something similar with the players listed above. He knows Oduor can't play up front on the left of a three and that Moon isn't a midfielder. He knows Brittain should be rested for Jordan Williams and Vita should at least be seen off the bench. However, he's become embittered and hardened into thinking his way is right and it's clearly failing.

I just hope when he does get the right 11 we win. So he can't tear it up.

The guy just can't communicate, either by the spoken word or in his body language.

Does he have a clause in his contract that states how many words he can speak daily? If so the pre and post game interview's are a waste of words and money.

So we're just going to ignore the fact he also stated:
“Maybe the coaches have seen I have a good delivery. I took a few last season. I want to take them if I am asked to, I am happy taking them."

I know we aren't pleased with Schopp at present but don't think selectively quoting players to suit your agenda particularly helps anyone. Just for balance he also stated:

"We’re behind him. The results haven’t been great but the performances have shown we’re giving everything for the gaffer."

It's a shame the head coach is a laughing stock and has become a figure of fun. Subsequently gallows humour has kicked in. I'm sure there isn't one person on here that has an agenda against the head coach or players. It's just a bit of satirical fun. I don't think there's malice because of the level of apathy in the posts. People are past caring. They just hope the team can get results from somewhere. In spite of Schopp. (I don't speak for everyone. I was using people in a figurative sense).

First quote starts with "Maybe", so he's not entirely sure why himself. He wants to take them 'if he is asked to'. He may as well have said, "don't ask me why I'm taking them, ask him"

The second quote is quite standard, you'd expect a measured response in a press conference as opposed to after match. And of course they want to win, and are giving their all. But the overall sense I get from listening to and reading these interviews is that while they might want the coach to do well, they don't expect him to beacuse there's no confidence in him.

Reading all the "dual meaning" quotes from players at the moment it does seem to me that we're close to a "team revolt" where the players go out there and try what they believe rather than instructions from the manager.

Ordinarily I'd be against that - not right now - I wish them well with it!

It's all the more puzzling that we released Ritzmaier as he had all the required attributes to play every week in Schopp's team.

Perhaps there's a limit of 1 Austrian Head Coach per player for total blind faith and a refusal to drop a player under any circumstances, and Struber had already claimed that one.

I find reading anything and trying to get overall sense from it difficult.

There's nothing in that Woodrow response that can be seen as negative. Not in a normal situation - but we're not in that situation right now.

He talks about benefitting the team, doing the best for the team, and wanting to be far better than he is right now. Also says he's happy with playing the role of taking corners. Let's be honest this isn't Harry Kane in Euro 2016 type stuff as Cauley offers zero threat from a corner anyway really and does put in the best delivery. I await Benson playing regularly and finding his feet there though.
