Sequence of games lost higher than win percentage. (Nicked front Doug O’Kane) Not even Spackman or Hodges ever managed that
Just to add a little more perspective, Jose Morais was sacked after 15 games and still managed to achieve 20% WR. Genuinely, have we had a worse manager in our Club's history? It may possibly be unfair to level that tag after just 16 games, but by any metric he's been a disaster.
I thought it was pretty lucky at the time, but with the benefit of hindsight it was nothing short of miraculous.
I’ve been watching for 51 years and have always thought mcSeveney would never be beaten for ineptness but even he managed 24% win rate and I don’t ever remember him dropping the player who played best the previous game. There is no way these players should be scraping one lucky win courtesy of Goal keeping heroics and losing game after game. If never wanted a manager sacking more. And I remember Simon Davey
Sadly, Dave old mate, I agree with you 100%. I honestly wish I didn't, but I do. Oh, and 53 years for me.
58 years for me and I agree with you both. I never in my wildest dreams would have believed a manager, far worse than McSeveney, would be allowed to preside over a run such as this without the Board reacting.
We were the ones saying patience. Sadly even we are in agreement that this as been a disaster. These boys are good enough in my opinion with just a bit of leadership. Please pull the trigger Conway .
27 years next month, and only Spackman comes close to him for ineptitude. Keith Hill is a disrespectful băstard, and he signed dross like Wiseman, and McNulty - but there was at least a point when he was doing okay. The wheels fell off, but at least the wheels were attached at one point under him. The streaky dwarf - annihilated 5-1 today in the third division, with arguably the biggest club outside the Premier League - is going to see his eight-match Barnsley losing streak eclipsed. But, whilst it was clear that we had some quality, we hadn't just almost got promoted the season before, and so the decline was not as astonishing. That just leaves Spacko. If Schopp could sign a midfielder with a hole in his knee, and preside over a reight bümmïňğ at Bramall Lane, he'd probably take the crown.
How many others got beaten by a team, which finished the season relegated to the Conference North? Not to mention the eight league defeats in a row. Or destroying the career of George Smith, by letting him be ripped to bits repeatedly, without ever taking the lad out of the firing line.
The manager previously struggled to beat Chester in the f.a Cup and George Smith was poor a while before Johnson was at oakwell. Johnson definatly isn't in my 5 worst over my time watching and he is 5th with Sunderland with games in hand over the other teams he wins those there top. Got us to Wembley in the jpt.
Not to Conway it isn't. I would like to know why he is keeping him in a job. He's the worst head coach I've seen in the dugout for us and I honestly thought Spackman and Morrais would take some beating but Schopp has managed to do it! I wonder what his win % was for the village team he managed in Austria.
