CLUB STATEMENT | MARKUS SCHOPP Club News Barnsley Football Club can confirm the departure of First Team Head Coach, Markus Schopp, with immediate effect. Continue reading on the official site...
I called this 2 mths ago how come I could see he was no good then but the experts (Conway and crew ) couldn't
Better late than never. If Laumann is able to take charge on an interim basis, not sure why it wasn't done earlier. Once the CEO is saying it's being reviewed on a game by game basis, it's just a case of when, not if.
Got way more words than a bloke who won games and got a promotion to his name. Joseph Laumann's Red and White Army, got a ring to it!
So the news gets out yesterday and the club wait until today to tell us what we already know from other sources, when it should be them we know from first. Then the statement tells us as little as possible so we don't know if he was sacked, left by mutural consent or did the right thing and walked. Then for the icing on the cake and cherry on top we put in temporary charge one of the guys who is part of our coaching staff who have failed this year and someone who a few weeks back got banned for acting like a hot head. As for Markus if he gives the forum a read good luck in the future. He was out of his depth with us but I would give credit where it's due to any one brave enough to move abroad to take on a job. He didn't purposely try to fail and had bad luck with injuries, visa problems and covid (food poisoning too). I hope he has success in whatever he does next.
I think he's walked. I think if the club had sacked him they'd at least hint at that being the case to gain some credibility with the fans. If he has quit it's embarrassing that even Schopp realised he needed to go before the board did
Not the most enlightening statement. Especially given its taken far longer than needed given the media leak. And just reiterates how disgusting the Stendel statement was.
Traitor? Bloke gets us promoted playing brilliant football. Then isn't provided with a bit of experience to help the cause. I agree he got caught out tactically but he's no traitor, just another coach let down by the owners.
Good luck to you Markus. It didn't work here for a multitude of reasons and the fit sadly wasn't right. If you've resigned, you deserve a huge amount of credit for doing so, though i hope you've got some compensation from the absolute shitshow.
While I hate to see anyone lose their job I think this was inevitable, i did find some of his decisions baffling and it was definitely time for him to go, however some of the names he’s been called is terrible.
the news we've all been desperately hoping for, yet this thread is still full of people having a pop and arguing with each other. isn't this what everyone wanted? shouldn't we having a street party or summat?
