But only if they move about a lot on the pitch regardless of results. Don't forget, a weak tippy-tappy style and the saleability goes through the roof. Successful hoofball a la Val, however, gets you nowhere (except for the Play-Offs and the best finish to a season in 20 years).

The irony is we'll have to return to Val's tactics to get out of this mess. We aren't going to play our way out of this. It'll be interesting if Laumann reverts back to what Val did last season. If he does and the players take to it. We could go on a run pretty quickly.

I suppose what I was getting at, is that if we had kept Morais or Schopp do we think they could have done a re-building job? Because Hecky, Struber and Ismael all left us, not the other way around. The only one you can argue about is Stendel and for whatever reason it's clear there was a complete breakdown between him and the owners.

Just read up on Laumann. He came with Val because they'd been friends for a number of years but never had the chance to work for him. You never know. After Val left he might have been waiting to see what transpired here with Schopp. Football coaching is a very Machiavellian world. Murray never wanted the top job but Laumann might.

He could be the man we've been needing the whole time. Maybe even Val's muse (until Val sacked him off for Muzza)?

I think the stability has been provided by the backroom staff. With that in place, it was a relatively easy task to “plug in” a new coach.

We’ve lost that continuity completely, and I don’t think that has helped Schopp. Also, didn’t he have problems bringing in his assistant?

It will be interesting to see if the new coach brings in his own people, because there is a lot of work to be done.

Is it fair to say the he is the only one at the club (with the exception of the players) who knows what that was?
