Yep. I fully admit that my understanding of the EA is incomplete, but I've had one commercial building refurbished myself and been involved with a good few more and that doesn't ring true to me.

May I be a bit cheeky and ask if you could ask one question please if you get chance. It's regarding the stadium. Nice and simple. In the tenancy agreement does it state that the holder (ie the club) is responsible for upkeep of the stadium? Obviously I understand that you might not get a chance or that the discussion regarding stadium may have already happened.

Sounds awful in this day and age but not all stands have to be accessible for disabled "fans". We do have a responsibility to meet the FA's policy and government legislation to provide an adequate space for those with disabilities. Those covered by the Equality Act with mobility issues could need aid when evacuating. That means more trained staff in stands. Now the law states you don't need to make public you are disabled, but to gain any support you'd have to do it. The FA therefore will stipulate how many trained stewards there needs to be per stand / number of fans.
Someone with mobility issues may have volunteered to move from the West to the East Upper due to the closure. Purely because they're fans and don't want to miss out. The club will then argue that the decision to take up such an unsuitable seat, would be personal choice.

 

If you take those words at face value then he's technically correct.
"Agreed" = purchase agreement to buy club.
"Promotional bonus" - additional monies due with regard to above agreement, agreed at time club was purchased, subject to champ survival or immediate return. Subsequently amended via negotiation with Cryne's to be a lower payment no longer subject to promotion.

The bit he's conveniently omitting to mention was that none of these agreements involved the actual entity of Barnsley Football Club Limited and none of the monies should have been paid by it. The note in the accounts confirms this.

It's essentially the same attempt that he's previously made with Gally to try to re-imagine this debt as relating to the Football Club, when it has never been such.

Looking forward to KEA's follow up to try to deflect from the truth again.

Let's not forget that we were the first football club in Britain to open a stand specifically designed and constructed to accommodate disabled supporters.

West Stand aside, accessible provision at Oakwell is still pretty impressive and ahead of a fair few Premier League clubs.

 

Remember a school trip in 1990 I think it was when they showed us around the old disabled stand. The club were so proud of it..
