I don't get why this didn't come out when he was lacing into Robinson. Couldn't be happening to a nicer bloke. People in glass houses and all that.
Chairman is generally a non-executive position - he would convene and chair meetings, discuss agendas, etc and liaise between the executives (CEO, etc) and the board (non-executive directors). More of a figurehead than a position of power.
I bet it all simmers down now Lord Patel has taken over. Nothing but political left wing rubbish by the sound of it
I have one issue with these allegations if they did happen and at the minute it's alot of he said this and he said that and no I didn't say that. Why did the players being abused sign new contracts with Yorkshire Rafiq was a Yorkshire player for over a decade and Naved whose now apparently backing up what Rafiq says was an over seas player at Yorkshire in 2008 and 2009. I'm not trying to diminish the allegations if it happened it was wrong it just seems strange you'd keep putting yourself through it.
Very surprised this didn't do him in the first time. WTF was he thinking as an ex England captain? Just 3 years after he finished the role too.
Michael Vaughan sacked by BBC. Vaughan said yesterday he told colleagues in the summer so why are BBC only sacking him now Vaughan has come out in public to admit it?
sounds a bit OTT that to me , a bit like Chinese whispers , never liked Vaughn in the media though always sounded snidely to me!
I loved Vaughan as a batsman and particularly as captain. The 2005 Ashes will forever live long in the memory. I must admit, I'm pretty shocked at this. I can't say I've heard a great deal from him since he retired, just because i don't follow celebs and sports people i social media and the things he's been part of, I've just not watched them as they aren't in my typical circles. I just can't believe there are people out there who can have such views and are content not only to hold them, but to voice them. And not just with similar pond life, but with those with which the words are aimed at denigrating and belittling. I agree with you. This should be the end of him and its time the ECB sorted this out through our elitist middle england cricket structures. Getting the england test team to wear an equality tshirt is nowhere near good enough.
Do you realise what a right wing racist idiot that makes you sound? Not saying you are one, but the choice of words you just used make you sound like one.
I'd hoped when YCCC finally abandoned its policy of not having international stars play for the county, they may also step into a more modern century than the one they'd been in previously. But it seems little has changed in the ensuing decades. The way they've handled this is absolutely shocking, and their reaction probably highlights just how bad things are at the club.
that aside, I think they needed someone like Lord Patel, to enable them to start reparations. Now they need to get a representative cross section of age and race on the board and start to go forwards again
As reported to the Daily Heil by another ex Yorkshire player https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/cricket/yorkshire-cricket-racism-azeem-rafiq-25385135
How would that change things for others though? And why shouldn't you have a job you love just because your religion and skin colour don't fit in?
