Is anything happening about getting us out of this mess, or are the board sitting on their hands?
No news, no action. Time is not on our side. They presided over the dismantling of the club in the close season, went for a cheap option and now are facing a relegation fight.
Middlesbrough get rid of a manager and appointed a new one next day. Is there any evidence of forward thinking from the board, or do we just take it a day at a time?

Would hope that there's an appointment this week. Suspect the club were hoping Schopp would hang on for another two games, and deal with everything in the break, like Boro, Villa and Norwich. (Frankly, I'm still a bit bemused as to how he survived as long as he did).

It's quite an achievement to turn a play-off side into a relegation side in the space of a couple of months.

To be fair, the ship was rudderless for quite some time, so it's hardly surprising that we've run aground. It's up to Khaled now to get us afloat again and back on course. Preferably before we sink.

Read this morning that our new coach was sat in the dugout on Saturday - not sure what that means though

Sorry for losing patience. I come on this board hoping to see something and there’s nothing.

Is there any evidence that Schopp was cheap? He was under contract so I'm guessing we had to buy him out of that. And I can't think of any reason a former international with over 50 caps who was in employment would move to another country and accept a wage considerably lower than the going rate, which his agent would be perfectly aware of.

I think there's plenty of evidence to suggest he wasn't much good in this league, but not that he cost us any less than another appointment would have.

As he didn’t bring his back room team with him I’m assuming that there were savings made there. I saw a quote somewhere about people having to cover more than one job.
Cheap is a relative term. Compared to what? The plan was to buy players from Europe because the talent was there at a more economic rate. Does that apply to coaches? If not, what is the fixation we have with foreign coaches? Do we believe that Austrian coaches are better? I don’t know.

The club announced that the process to appoint a new coach was under way when they announced Schopp's departure.
Middlesbrough told Warnock 3 weeks ago they were changing coaches.

Him not bringing his coaches with him would certainly be a saving. Hiring and firing costs money. Although the same would probably be true whoever we hired.

Ultimately, I'm not sure how financially prudent it was as he may have done much better with a backroom team he was familiar with.

I think the club tried, but failed, to get one or two of Schopp's backroom staff with him. So, if there was a saving, it wasn't by design.

Well they know how to climb every mountain and ford every stream.
Trouble is they also know how to follow every rainbow till they find their dream .... which usually isn't at Barnsley due to the buy out clause or by getting sacked !

I think it was reported in the Austrian press that we paid 300k euros for Schopp.

Reportedly cost WBA £1,000,000 for Ishmael.

Schopps win rate, even at his previous clubs, was half that of Val - it was always a downgrade, and in the underlying stats I can’t see what attracted us to him.
