Based on Saturday's abomination, I fvçķïňğ hope not.

Final nail in the coffin, if so.

After the win on Wednesday, many on here were calling for Joe to be given the job.

After the defeat on Saturday, many are calling for him to get the next taxi away from Grove Street.

I was far from happy with the changes he made to a winning team on Saturday, or the way we played, or the same players missing from the squad, etc.

However, his suitability to the job cannot be judged on either of these two games.

So how do you judge a caretaker coach?

He's got little to zero managerial experience, so that can't be relied upon. So you either judge him on what he gets out of a failing team, or you don't.

I agree. Surely someone with plenty of experience of the Championship and a reasonable record of success would be a much safer option. An unknown quantity is far too much of a risk in our present predicament.

I suppose you if you want to go that way you give them half a dozen games and look it then. Then if you thibk they show potential you give them until the end of the season and look again

Instead of treating the head coach as just another financial asset, it’d make more sense to spend on a time served British boss and pay him well to his position bulletproof. Then, he won’t be off at the first opportunity and could oversee the purchase and, more importantly the development of the players brought in. That should inject stability at a stroke and should bring bigger transfer fees because we’re selling better players. That income should more than compensate the money men for the loss of manager compo.

Spot on. Besides Wednesday's result, there were so many positive signs to come out of that game - Laumann's passion on the touchline, players in their proper positions(ish), his reaction to the goals, his interaction with the players at full-time. It all had Big Val written all over it. Not sure what mental aberration he had between then and Saturday to pick the squad he did and send them out with f*** knows what instructions....

Surely Val could still manage us by proxy? Or is that one of them conflicts of interest? o_O

They don't think like that though do they? The entire club is merely a vehicle for making profit in the short -term with a hope that there will be enough upturn for increased profits in the longer-term. The manager/coach is part of that process so the board will be looking for someone relatively cheap who can hopefully keep the team up and increase player values. Then, hopefully for the owners more players can be sold for profit and the manager himself can also be sold for profit. It's profit rather than quality of appointment that drives these owners. They got lucky with Ismael and made money on him. They got unlucky with Schopp. Obviously they will hope they've picked a good manager but again that's only so that profit can be made. The whole process is recyclable profit-making ********.

Don’t expect anything else but a word of warning for the owners/board if it goes the way of Morris/Schopp prepared to be shocked when early bird comes out.
Of course no guarantees with an home grown manager/coach but it is needed this time.

I don't think he'd count as an appointment from overseas at this point would he? To me it implies someone who is currently working in a foreign league.

I heard on Radio Sheffield on the way home, he changed the team because of injuries and fitness levels of the players involved. He didn't want to but had to think term. I think we have done to death this season, the problems with the fitness and conditioning of the players and who is responsible.

But sadly due to the board pissing about for 4 weeks when everybody else could see Schopp was a busted flush we haven't got the time to mess about giving him games to prove himself capable. They need to get the right man in and get it done quickly

Why would we want anyone else other than the best person for the job?

.. if its another Austrian and an Austrian who can retrieve something from this season then appoint the Austrian.
.....if there are no suitable Austrians go for an Australian or someone else from a country beginning with "A".
