The weekly Oakwell light show commences at 13:31pm every Tuesday and runs for exactly 7 minutes. Each floodlight is powered on and pointed at the sky. The word "REDS" is supposed to be illumated in the sky above the centre circle, however due to a number of bulbs being out, it actually reads 'PEDh'. It's not known when the light show first commenced, or who actually switches the lights on, however it is thought to pre-date the infamous Ross Turnbull getting his shorts off phenomenon. Its said that if you stand on the centre circle during the light show, take exactly 11 steps towards the Ponte End, then 5 Towards the East Stand, and then run directly back across the centre circle, Paul Conway appears on the score board and yells in a broad Barnsley accent "Aaarrrrr Muuuuchhhh". Its a natural phenomenon that we should all admire and pay homage to at least once in our lifetime. Come on you PEDh!!!
Brilliant Archey! It's all been a bit doom and gloom recently and even the BBS has been downbeat and a little depressing. But this is BBS humour at it's very best - love it. And Come on you PEDh!
