I never thought of Malan opening ! As Boult has been the most destructive pace bowler, it makes sense to have a steadier approach from one opener. Anyway it’ll all come out of the wash in a few hours
Bairstow moves up for me and someone comes in to bat 4. Malan stays at 3 with Livingstone, Morgan, Moeen at 5/6/7 is strong enough imo. I think whoever wins this game will lift the trophy.
Personally I’d bring Vince in and make a straight swap. I’m not a fan of moving too many people around at once. Having said that, if Morgan told me Monty Panesar was coming back to open the batting I wouldn’t argue with him.
I'd bring in Willey to open the bowling, if there's any swing he'll find it and he's more than decent with the bat in 20/20, leave the death bowling to Jordan, Woakes and Rashid. Reckon Livingstone is an ideal replacement to open the batting, but I still think it's a shame that there's a bloke sat twiddling his thumbs in Nottingham.
Owen's lucky to have a queue eager to take Roy's spot. Unlike test cricket, losing 2 wkts early can be overcome. 3 down in the powerplay becomes an issue as happened to Australia. If Willey comes in he's a useful batter to have if required.
Hales failed drug tests on two occasions and we don’t desperately need him so let him earn a bundle playing round the global leagues.
Looks 2 paced to me, think owt above 150 will be decent here but will obviously want more. Really solid start. Less solid now.
