Have a good peruse of avforum. There are some real experts on there that will guide you. I bought a 55 inch Oled Philips in the end. Brilliant. Just fits between the wall and chimley breast (an inch either side). Think size and resolution matters dependent on how far you sit away from it. https://www.avforums.com/categories/tv-forums.297/
Now looking at a Samsung neo QLED. Got some really good deals direct with Samsung via work. Downside is they only offer a 1 year warranty, however they are around £300 cheaper than John Lewis/Currys/Richer Sounds etc Worth spending the extra and getting a 5 or 6 year warranty or are modern TVs far less susceptible to failure?
If you get an LG OLED then do not leave it on for any length of time on one of those channels where the tickertape constantly flows at the bottom of the screen. I did, and it has messed up the pixels. Beware Sky News and Sky Sports. And strangers too of course.
I got the Neo 85” version, got £500 off from Richersounds and £500 claim back from Samsung, It's mint we love it. I suppose you need to decide whether it's worth saving the £300 or getting the warranty
Yeah that's it, exactly what I'm trying to establish. Not sure how much I'll need the warranty but it is a good piece of mind I suppose
I'm guessing it depends what size you are getting. Mine cost £4700 before deductions so I suppose the warranty for 6 years is a good thing
I'm looking at the 55" QN94a. Can get it for £974 direct from Samsung versus £1299 from Currys/Richer Sounds
I suppose at that price you can risk it, I know that it's still a lot of money but it's not £4700. I've got the 95a but without the onebox so it's 95c in this country. At that price I'd go direct with Samsung
That's what I'm thinking Seems the 94a is the same as the 95a minus the onebox and 1 less HDMI 2.1, but is £150 cheaper
When it got to 85" the numbers and letters change for some reason but the 94a will be the equivalent. I didn't want the onebox as it cannot be wall mounted and has to lie flat. My tv runs hdmi over ethernet to another area of the room where all the media equipment is, there is only the tv and surround speakers on the wall and nothing below to house the onebox
Trust me mate for the price this tv is absolutely bomb proof. Sony KD55XH9005BU 55" 4K HDR Full Array LED Android TV - Free 5 Year Warranty
Haha cheers! Definitely decided on the TV, just working out the best deal A few of the retailers are offering free slim wall mount (£149 RRP) and a half price sound bar, but not sure I need either!
