Taking a look at how Sweden U21s set up with Poya Asbaghi. Only 35 minutes in. Currently 0-0 but a good quality game.

Rather than concentrating on personnel, there are some interesting points. Sweden appear to be encouraged to play out from the back, but aren’t afraid to play vertically - where there’s an opportunity to feed the front players quickly.

Out of possession, they work to regain the ball back quickly and don’t easily allow the opposition with chances to take yardage or make multiple passes. Working in pairs and groups to limit the ‘easy ball’.

It’s going to be harsh if I judge this on the result (whatever that might be). Both teams have had chances. Though some have come about through naive individual errors.

To their credit, Sweden clearly have a pattern to their play and keep their shape in transitions. Eager to win the ball. Most of their best play has come from wide positions. Like to move it side to side. Always looking to provide through balls and get the opposition running towards their own goal. Nothing has come off for them yet, but they have a plan in my opinion.

Can’t see us going 4-4-2 for a while. We’d be left with about seven strikers on the bench.

He'll be Marcus, mark 2 if he's not allowed to play his own formation surely.. But I wouldn't be surprised

According to the Irish commentators Asbaghi hotly tipped for Barnsley and it would be a big move to turn down.

Hopefully Hondermark might get a run out off the bench tonight

Sweden seem to be playing four at the back in defence but the full backs push way upfield in possession. I joined the game late so I'm flicking between the 2nd half in real time and the 1st half on plus one hour.

Well, we’ve not got a proper left-back, our right-back is usually the one we play through going forward, and we’ve not really got any wingers. 4-4-2 seems unlikely.

Also, it looks like he usually played five at the back in his last club job.

    Interesting translation

    "Now it's finished.

Poya Asbaghi leaves her job as national team captain for the Swedish U21 national team to take over Barnsley in English The Championship. Barnsley buys Asbaghi from the Swedish Football Association, which is expected to become official soon, according to information to SportExpressen.

With her to her new club, Poya Asbaghi takes her former assistant coach at IFK Gothenburg, Ferran Sibila, who will also be an assistant coach at Barnsley.

    Daniel Kristoffersson
It was on Sunday that SportExpressen was able to reveal that Poya Asbaghi was just small details from being finished as the new head coach of Barnsley FC in English The Championship. The club had been looking for a new coach after the club fired Markus Schopp, and they had been negotiating with Asbaghi for some time. At the same time, Barnsley had also contacted the Swedish Football Association to buy the coach out of his position as national team captain for the U21 national team. Now everything is also completely clear. Asbaghi's last match as national team captain will be tonight's match against Ireland in the European Championship qualifiers, according to well-initiated sources to SportExpressen. He will then leave his job as national team captain and become the new coach for Barnsley.

    Negotiations with Svff are complete
Negotiations between Barnsley and Svff are already complete and the contract with Poya Asbaghi has also been signed. Asbaghi also brings with him his former assistant coach at IFK Gothenburg, Ferran Sibila. That the duo will take over Barnsley will probably become official on Wednesday or Thursday. Then it is thought that both Asbaghi and Sibila will go directly to England to get acquainted with their new surroundings. Barnsley face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, but that match will not be led by Asbaghi and Sibila. Instead, he is expected to start his new job next week. For the U21 national team, this means that a hunt for a new national team captain will now begin.

The union begins a careful process
And according to what SportExpressen experiences, the league will take plenty of time to find a new league captain and will not be in a hurry to find a replacement. In this way, the news comes that Asbaghi will leave at a suitable time as the next U21 gathering is not until March next year. In addition, Sweden's U21 national team has a good qualifier behind it so far and has four wins and two draws in total. Barnsley are currently second to last in The Championship."

    4-4-2

It’s been pretty consistent during qualification, by all accounts. Seem to use right midfielder as an inverted / narrow winger to join up with the top two in attack. But that could be working to the strengths of his personnel.

I'd go ether Moon, j Williams or sibbick right-back take your pick, with Brittain in front right-mid/wing... On the left Kitchen or J williams with Styles in front on the left mid/wing would also suit Clarke Odour..

It's very possession based football, shuffling across midfield and back looking for an opening.
