I’d go Kitching and J Williams at full back with Styles and Brittain / Frieser in the wide midfield positions.

    Evidently he plays 4-2-3-1.

Forgot about Frieser.. but definitely got the players to go 4-4-2 if there's the will. Got to go with a back 4 for me.. our 3 has been ripped to shreds all season..been shots in at times..

We wouldn’t be strong enough out wide with Frieser/Styles in a four I don’t think.

We can play a back four but would need two players holding given our league position, similar to England and Man Utd. That way your full backs work as aggressive wing backs when you have the ball because you’ve got at least three players back at all times.

A flat 4-4-2 would see us relegated in my opinion

if I was to pick a 442 I’d go for

    Collins
    Jordan Williams, Helik, Andersen, Kitching
    Brittain, Benson, Gomes, Styles
    Woodrow, Iseka

    if I went 4231
It would be the same at the back, then
    Benson, Gomes
    Frieser, Styles, Iseka
    Woodrow

The team in your first 'box' worries me as I don't think it's good enough man for man to compete with such a flat look.

Really like the second 'box' but even though Benson likes to drop deep and dictate the play I'm not sure he's tough enough to be one of those two, so could be tempted to switch him and Styles with Styles having a bit more freedom to come forward. I'd like Frieser to be included in any team of ours that has an instruction to press, with Iseka and Woodrow picking themselves. Decent side.

Benson is a bit of an enigma, because he can ping a lovely ball forward, but seems to shirk a tackle ( ex arsenal) and I think Gomes/Palmer need to play alongside him.
I’d be happy if a we just experiment to try and get the best out of the team rather than stick to a losing formula.

We haven't got the personnel to play 4-4-2 I don't think - neither in midfield nor defence.

Remember that Schopp has played 4 at the back throughout his managerial career and he was either unwilling to or not allowed to do so either.

It'll be a back three again.

I cannot get my head round this current Hondermarck obsession given the few minutes he has had on the pitch.

What's with the obsession with 442?

He has played well when he's been on it though.

I think we need to go four at the back.. getting done week in week out with the three.. Infront of that he could do what ever formation he wants really..
