You have the mind of a midfield maestro.

By interesting to see the crowd reaction when this new philosophy goes tits up and we concede 4 goals in the first game:
    'By 'eck...oh no!'

I'd assumed the head coach had already worked with him before and brought him with him?

You'd hope so. Doesn't mean their philosophies match exactly. And surely the style and tactics of the head coach should be the ones that are followed, not the assistants mantra.

You could look at Murray, or Laumann and ask how similar their preferred styles are to Ismael.

But I don't think this has anything to do with playing style or tactics. More about how to give effective training sessions.

The head coach is still going to be the orchestrator of what style, tactics and formation he wants to go with and how to best make that happen. I'd very much hope any head coach sets up his coaches to do what they want, and not just leave them to their own devices.

its a good philosophy to teach the players as no plan survives 1st contact after that its identify, adapt and overcome

I think we need to bring in Schwan-Stabilo to highlight a few things in training.

The head coach will set out what he wants to achieve, but if he's leaving his assistants to lead the training sessions, then he should be trusting them to do it in a way that delivers on what he wants to achieve.

Otherwise, may as well get one of the ball boys to just fetch and carry cones.

We clearly have fundamentally different views of management and what leads to it being successful.

They were a team at Gothenburg so the fact that they're happy to work together again suggests to me that they've established a working relationship that works for both parties.

I think unfortunately its a sign of the times, I remember a few years back they did a check and the majority of England players went to private school believe it or not, or there was some very high number. Anyway the gist of it was that working class children don't get much of a look in these days, that's not to say working class people are stupid of course, I just mean that the average footballer is better educated today then they've ever been.

The choices that they have to make though are very simple, they are just high in frequency and require fast decision making.

You can 100% train this side of it. It's not one or the other with fitness either, clearly they compliment each other.
