Benchmark for me on where we are going under him.

Because we have loads of players screaming out to be captain...

For what it’s worth, I would keep the armband with Cauley.

Woodrow been captain was one of the least of our problems this season imo. I'd probably have Collins or helik but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't bother me.

I'm more concerned about his lack of goals than his captaincy or the awful football we have played all season, the incompetent head coach we appointed, the lack of fitness. I could go on.

I'd immediately take the armband of Woodrow and stop him taking corners and let him concentrate on his main job of scoring goals.
A forward should not be captain it's the job of a centre half.or fullback.

    Total irrelevance

Exactly, so why would you give the captain's armband to someone who's been largely ineffective in open play for over a year?

He wouldn't be my choice but I think there are bigger problems. Take the armband off him and I don't think he will start scoring a load unfortunately. Who would your choice be for captain?

Has he consistently lost the toss? As far as I’m concerned the captain issue is a non-issue. The role’s profile was raised by brand-Beckham to raise the profile of brand-Beckham. I understand the importance of the captain in cricket in terms of field placings, and bowler rotation. But, for the life of me, don’t understand why people think it has any importance in football.

    Helik. No contest.

And I wouldn't particularly take the armband of Woodrow in the hopes he'd start scoring, I'd take it off him so we could give him a rest and give someone else a chance in that position.

The problem is because he's captain he can't be dropped and he needs dropping.

    I'd give it Collins myself.

I never knew that was a rule, but, if so, there is a problem.

Being captain isn't what it used to be. Nowadays you need 11 captains on the pitch who can think for themselves without a particular person shouting.

A captains importance is really over rated for me nowadays.

It totally is, but how often do captains get dropped? Hardly ever, and that is a problem when that captain is invariably the worst player on the pitch.

I agree, with the exception that when I was a lad no-one cared who the captain was. As long as he won the toss. That’s all.

This Woodrow = Bad Captain is up there with Sheron = Useless lazy git in terms of Barnsley fans fable for me.

Total non-story. Woodrow is just frustrated/ frustrating as a player. His role as club captain has a tiny amount to do with what we see on the pitch. I don't suppose many of us have seen what he is like behind the scenes. He might be just what some players need. I have no idea - but people who also have no idea are saying he's crap based on very little knowledge.

Cut him some slack and get behind him.

The importance of captain in the grand scheme of things is tiny.
