What is he bringing to the team? Seriously, I want someone to point out what I'm obviously missing. For a good while now he's been god awful, you can argue that he's been playing deep but that doesn't even come close to explaining his catastrophic dip in form over the last few months. For me, he's got to sit on the bench for next couple of games to see how he reacts, depending on how that goes we may well need to move him on in Jan as he's a literal passenger. I understand that this is heresy in some folks eyes, but I just don't understand why he's on the pitch at the moment
He definitely knows. When the goal went in today, he just stood there, like he couldn’t believe he’d missed. He definitely knows nothing’s going right for him at the moment. I will add also - Carlton Morris - wow. He was absolutely abysmal.
Management/coaching issue, pure and simple. Cauley is a talented footballer - one of our best. Our recent coaches have not brought out the best in him. It is their duty to create an environment in which he can perform to his potential. That is the essence of management/coaching.
I believe he has been poor even last season too. I'm not looking into the goals from last season ( which was one of our best). He scored around 6 from open play all season rest were penalties
I just don't think he particularly suits playing in a three. He's not got the pace to play on the left or right, nor the strength or ability to hold the ball up to play through the middle. Needs to be played in a two. I think Woodrow and Morris would still make a very good partnership at this level. But if we continue to play with a front three I really don't see an argument for starting him.
He's done it before, and is therefore capable of doing it again. Just needs bringing out again. It will be cheaper than trying to bring in someone else.
I actually think he's a decent Championship striker but by picking him week in week out 90 minutes never subbed he's gone stale, he's giving us 70% of what he could, and his Im better than this attitude shows through sometimes. I hope the new manager can give him the fire he needs to show what he can do otherwise I wouldn't be disappointed to see him leave.
Tbf Morris hasn’t kicked a ball in 3 months. Having seen every other game he’s played, I’m putting it down to that
I think his movement still far exceeds all the other forwards in terms of the runs he makes and showing for the ball. His touch is still there, as is his vision and general footballing ability, but his lack of pace is alarming at the moment and absolutely nothing is going right for him. Wasn’t annoyed with his performance today mind. Or other games. As generally we’ve just been poor all over the pitch with terrible,e decision making. I think when the team improves then Woodrow will too. Still an important player for us. Styles is a bigger worry for me. By worry, I really mean project for Poya. Everything that he did well today was followed up by something abysmal. Another low on confidence I think.
Styles needs to be given a position that he can stick to. He’s been shifted left then back central too much this season, IMO. Sounds like he was asked to be one of two deeper midfielders today? Not sure that’s his best role to be honest. Want him to be able to get the ball in space where he can offer a goal threat from midfield.
I couldn’t work anything out first half. I spent most of it thinking Frieser definitely wasn’t on the pitch and that he was Benson and Benson was Benson. Second half he was back at LWB. I still maintain that CM is where he’ll flourish but it’s got to be in the right system and with clear coaching. Schopp should have been perfect for that, but I think he (and we in general) need some experienced nous in there to help.
He still has good technical ability but unfortunately his legs have gone. To say that he's probably our top earner and holding back both Iseka and Coles careers with us I'd be looking to move him on while his reputation still outweighs his effectiveness.
He has touch vision and a good brain. Zero pace unfortunately. As a striker he’s now just so easy to defend against. Their centre half today never broke sweat. Was embarrassingly easy for him. Personally would now start thinking about dropping him further back. I think about players like Teddy Sheringham, who almost played as a midfielder towards the end of his career.
Why? All players come and go and Cauley is no exception and like I said it would give someone else an opportunity.
He's a natural finisher. No more no less. We are trying to make him into a Rooney that does everything else. Whilst we create Jack **** he won't look good. Simple as that. He's a striker/finisher and the sooner we play to that the better
I think the whole team's confidence is shot to pieces. Hopefully Poya can instill that back in them and get them firing again. I have high hopes with Poya and his assistant, not sure if I'm basing that on anything but I'm hopeful I understand it will need to be a slow burn, but hopefully he is successful in his tenure and we can get some continuity again.
He's a pisstaker. Outscored in open play by Adeboyejo and Frieser. Embarrassing. Saunter about and don't bother to make any runs Cauley and you'll be in League 1/2 forever.
