Bored on a Sunday, so how should the deckchairs be arranged this time? I'd go 3-5-2; Collins Helik Andersen Sibbick Styles Palmer Benson Hondermarck Brittain Morris Iseka Only questions being whether Morris is ok to play back to back games, and Gomes comes in if he's available.
Looks okay, I'd probably drop Benson as he seems more of a luxury player and I've seen more fight in a toddler. I think we will go with 3 strikers, I think the best 3 forwards we have are iseka Morris and woodrow but on recent form I'd play vic over cauley. ------------------Collins -------Sibbick helik anderson Britain-----------------------------styles ------------plamer-----honermark ------victor----iseka---morris
Collins Moon Helick Anderson Kitchen Brittain Palmer Benson Hondermack Styles Woodrow Subs Walton Sibbick J. Williams Gomez Morris Iseka Cole
Wouldn't be too fussed with that, as long as the front 3 press, and there's some organisation behind them. I'd be tempted to play Vic over Woodrow at the moment. Would only play Benson as a 10, with two centre mids behind him at the moment, so wouldn't get in if we play 3-4-3 for me.
Thats it, get behind the youngsters , its not his fault his development has been messed about ,but I think he is potentially a very promising defender if brought on properly .
As I’ve said on another thread, moon has been shifted from from one position to another almost every game. His best games have been left of a back three (Blackburn and Derby), yet for some reason he has to move to accommodate Kitching when he comes back in. Meanwhile, Helik plays the same position every game, gets worse every game and people want to give him the armband. Wouldn’t be putting moon at right back mind. Would have Jordan Williams there if not Brittain.
Let’s be honest he should be on bench at best he may have loads of potential but he’s miles off being ready for first team
4-4-2 Collins Sibbick Anderson Halme(injured? Kitchen) Styles Brittain Gomez Palmer Odour Iseka Victor drop the undroppable and send a message.
You honestly think cailey has the attributes to play lone striker? Moon at right back is asking for trouble.
I honestly think we will struggle to play a back 4 with the players we have. Moon isn't ready yet, and brittain and Williams are both better at wing back and bombing forward than they are defending.
I think Jordan would make an excellent right back in a 4. When he played as part of a back 3 at project restart he was consistently good. I’ve No concerns at all over the defensive side of his game.
I know he played lwb on Saturday but he was defensively all over the place the amount of times he had no idea where wilson were was shocking and also stopping crosses. Playing left or right doesn't give a excuse for not doing the simple things like tracking players or attempting to stop a cross. I alway think he looks better attacking than he does defending.
I think we should stick with 3 at the back until January. I also think Poya knows much better than me and if he thinks it's better, will assess who can play at LB and play a 4. If we're playing a high press I want to see Frieser and Morris playing. I want Gomes in the centre of the park buzzing around. I want us to go back to playing like we did against Leeds under Struber. Except to actually win the game.
Ok I'll go for it. Collins Jordan Williams, Helik, Andersen, Vita Gomes, Benson Frieser, Woodrow, Leya Iseka Morris
Very bold. We don’t have a natural fit for the ‘number 10’ role so would agree Woodrow possibly is the man for it. We’ve already seen Gomes and Benson in a 2 doesn’t work. So would be inclined to try a 4-3-3, Gomes holding instead of a number 10. First priority is to be solid, but it also gives those attack minded full backs a bit more freedom.
I think Gomes Benson would work in a two if Benson got a rocket up him telling him to work as hard to win the ball back as he does to drop deep to try and ping a Gerrard style crossfield ball. I honestly think 50% of our problem this season is a lack of direction from the touchline. Last season Ismael was barking orders for 90 minutes. We either need to give them the knowledge on the training pitch or talk them through the games. I don't think Poya will have turned it round by Wednesday, but I'm hoping we see an improvement.
Can’t help but think our move to a back four on Saturday had something to do with the new boss. Started well against a brilliant side, failed to close down a cross, failed to mark or challenge the most prolific striker in the league, and the rest as they say is history. Based on that I’ve got no idea what team we will play or what team I’d play. It’s just one of those where I’m not even going to predict or guess. Could be anything.
