We'll just have to wait and see. I like listening to the press conferences, but they are quite identikit and driven by circumstance. He seems another ambitious young coach willing to travel to another country to benefit his coaching and his profile. So the same remains, if he's successful he won't be here in 6-12 months time. If he fails, he'll be sacked in the summer window. Either way, we start all over again on the roulette wheel of chance.

Basically…. Doesn’t matter which league we are in as long as the players are worth more in 12 months time!

    THE AMBITION

"Considering the situation we are in, I think a lot of people would be happy if we were staying in the league at the end of the season.

"But for me, I want to develop these players and develop a game model and an identity for our team. This doesn't go against staying in the league. For me, you don't have to choose one or the other.

"I want to get a win in the next game, to see our players develop each game, but for them to be developing still in a year's time. That's our ambition. But this requires hard work."

It's difficult when you're trying to say the right things though, isn't it

If he came out and said, "Staying in the league is my one and only aim this season and unfortunately there are going to be some players who haven't got what it takes to be part of my team" then a) people would be on his back saying he was writing off players, and b) people wouldn't believe him anyway and would say that he'd been briefed to say that to appease the fans.

I thought he answered the majority of the questions as diplomatically as he could, and he's certainly more eloquent and has a better command of English than Stendel, Struber or Schopp did.

without a shallow of doubt it’s hard to convey meaning when you are new, foreign language etc. what hes basically said though is (and no doubt who has told him this)

is….I don’t care which league we play in as long as the players are worth more.

your interpretation of him saying the players “ may not being good enough” is the polar opposite different to mine.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I'd suggest that you are being overly negative based on all the other things going on at the club, and putting your interpretation of Khaled's two separate statements where he said a) he wasn't worried about being relegated and b) where he said last season was a failure because we hadn't made any players good enough that other teams wanted to bid for them, you've put those two sentences together and then put those words into Poya's mouth.

I am traditionally a fence sitter though and will give people the chance, rather than assume.

I'll be happy to get to 55 point ASAP gauranteed safety then he can chop and change and prepare for next season.
Even throw on the some under 23 and 18 give the some experience.
Will we see any loanees back on January.
Anyway it's quietly positive from me.
I'll piss me sen if moon plays against Swansea from the start.
I can just hear the noise and see the messages. He doesn't know what he's doing etc etc.

I didn't get that impression at all. He said his main objective is to stay in the league and develop the players. Surely thats what we all hope for/expect him to say?

I'd be far more concerned if he'd actually said 'it doesn't matter what league we're in next year'. If i missed him saying that then my apologies. From what I saw he very much wanted to ensure we stayed in the league though.

Guess its all reasonably subjective and open to interpretation - I just didn't interpret what he said as anything like someone who didn't care what the outcome of the season was.

Strange how people interpret things. The interview came over to me as been very single minded in his approach to how he wants to play the game,I heard no corny lines that would have been written for him and I like the way he agrees with how the club is run.Now that may come across as strange when we're next bottom but obviously his intensions are not be there at the end of the season. He's got a fairly lengthy contract and if in 2/3 years he's got us in a healthy position he will have deserved his next move. Before I'm been accused of being negative the average length of manager survival is 2 years and thats at nearly every club in the country not just BFC.Wecome to Oakwell Poya I hope you smash it and move the team and yourself to the next level.

Yep! He's got the ethos of the town and club pretty quickly. In training, he is engaged with what is going on and looks like a caged tiger waiting to pounce on anything which isn't up to scratch. He also seems to have got a good understanding of Swansea, which is encouraging. This looks like a focussed, committed and effective head coach in the making. It just needs clarity of game plan from him and the coaches now and, of course, for the players to make it happen on the pitch. Good first impression of someone with ambition and the nouse to reach his targets.

Very positive interview for me. Stops short of inspirational but very encouraging. He appears focussed, has a plan, expects everyone to graft, and in return you'll know where you stand with him. Key things for me - work with what he has, expects twice the effort, systems suit selections and oppositions, and clarity around roles and expectations. I think it will become clear if we have any 'attitude' players in squad. However, expectation management caution. Putting things right won't happen overnight but seeing progress is key.
Welcome Poya, may the footballing gods be with you.
