The temporary bridge is shît, I don’t think anyone argues that, but it’s TEMPORARY.

And apparently it’s the biggest they could do temporarily because of other developments that need to happen before a larger bridge can be made. Fair enough.

Not sure what the alternative is?

The part that I don’t get is why can’t the interchange bridge be used? Not ideal to have so many walking through the interchange, no, but for half an hour, twice, every couple of weeks, it’s a better solution than closing half of the town’s roads to let people walk around on the road surely?

    OR ..........
Because Network Rail and this Labour controlled Barnsley Council has made such a mess of things - why don’t they follow the line that shops are taking during Covid - and have stewards stood either side of the Jerry Built bridge for an hour allowIng only a certain number of people over the bridge at any one time.

Why don’t they do this ???
BECAUSE THEY JUST CANT BE BOTHERED.
They will only get involved if God forbid someone ends up on the lines at the train station when it kicks off - or shoppers are caught up in running battles as fans have been pushed into the side streets while walking to the ground.

Network Rail and Barnsley Council are treating football supporters with contempt.
Consequently I refuse to listen to any lame excuse from them or their allies.

Football supporters not exactly known for their patience or rule following. trying to limit the amount of people crossing would be a fool's errand.

You’re steadily coming around now. You have now acknowledged that Network Rail are involved in this and you seemed to have dropped the ‘ found to be unsafe’ Part of your mantra. We’re getting there slowly but surely

I thought there were plans for a small grassed area when it was first demolished.

Where would you have built a wider bridge during construction works?

Does anyone have any info when this here bridge is actually going to start ? Can’t find anything other than an article from Chronicle in June saying it was delayed and was expected to start November?
I seem to also recall NMCN were awarded the work and then went into receivership, not sure if that’s true or not but now the sewer has been diverted and the main structure/cladding is complete on the CIneworld it ought to be starting or else next season in L1 will also mean the diversions.

Network Rail needed the crossing closed by March 2019 in order to part-fund the bridge. The crossing was closed on time, so I’d assume they’ve made their contribution.

The last update suggested construction would begin in December, but there’s been no update since so who knows. NMCN was something I saw in a document a while ago and mentioned that on here, but I don’t know for definite if that contract was ever awarded.

Freddiel - Network Rail have made their contribution. You are wrong about the reasons behind it though.

Well then I shall remove them from my post. However, the information I posted is from what I’ve seen in the council documents and what I’ve read about the level crossing closure programme. I made some assumptions relating to other options so will assume that’s what you were referring to.
