I suppose you feel more connected with the club if you're in the academy, makes life easier for all.if everyone and everything is in the same place?
But it was never going to be ‘only’ Wigan and Rotherham. I’m guessing we’ve approached every club within 50 miles and had a different response from each. Conway by the way rather than ‘the club’.
that’s my point really mate, they could have chosen to tell us. There’s been plenty of fan engagement but it’s been hidden behind a cloud of “we want to stay” I know it’s not hard to join the dots with this
Apologies, I took your post literally. A peppercorn rent doesn't mean a cheap rent, it means no rent at all. The term has a specific usage in land/property rental agreements, where "a rent of one peppercorn per annum" would be written into the lease agreement, effectively it's a rent free arrangement. But anyway, Pride Park might not be the best example to use as a comparison. They're barking mad.
No, it’s not really. It’s about £350k ish a year iirc. And it’s tricky to value as the property has no other use. I’m just saying it’s a two way street….
The annual rent payable is £150,000 pa, they may well spend considerably more on repairs to the existing facilities, which is the tenant’s responsibility as per the tenancy agreement.
I don’t think the 80% mob had any intention to buy the ground, found a way to back out, and are acting like they are the put-upon party - shameless behaviour.
We've had statements from all 3 in the past on various things. What makes anyone think we will get any more clarity. Cos if all 3 released another statement tomorrow, they would be so far apart it cause yet more grief and mistrust. About time the whole lot grew up and put fans first. For once.
That’s right. Couldn’t fully remember. Isn’t it the same again on repairs or something? I know I discussed this before elsewhere, but couldn’t remember exact figures. It’s the repair costs which are the issue - which even Cryne himself used to moan about too at supporters meetings.
I can recall as some of you may, that last year when this all started I paid for land registry checks on oakwell. I was surprised to see that there was a hiving off of the mineral rights to the land oakwell stands on almost concurrently to the sale of the club, possibly under the nose of the purchaser. The comment about not acquiring clean title could be telling. The club could get planning for a swish west stand replacement but couldn't put a spade in the ground without trespassing against the rights of the mineral rights owner who would no doubt get an injunction until somebody bought them out for a silly Billy price. I wouldn't pay that either, hence float ground share rumours to drive down the buy out price or court action against whoever whoever allowed this state of affairs.
There’s already been building action on the ground though and I would imagine due diligence would have been used for the original construction so doubt it would stand up in court . Imo the owners are wanting ownership of the ground without the caveats, which if true would spark suspicions in the council and rightly holding back the sale . If they disagreeing with it can only be used for sports activities then don’t sell imo .
Bang on. It’s every single one of them that needs to get a ******* grip, not just Conway. They are all to blame. Conway, Lee et al, are just as bad as James Cryne, Neerav, BMBC, and others that never get a mention. All as bad as each other. Put the football club first you first you ******* clarts.
If you drive past and had a look you'd know that was a very old picture most of the stands have been scavenged for scrap metal by booths company I think.
This is all very grubby, which means it's got Conway's dabs all over it. YP may have had to hold on the story, and they wouldn't have gone to print without running by the club and their legal team. Bradford are cash strapped, Rotherham will always have a low budget in the Championship. The massives are paying 6 million a year to play at their decrepit death trap. Donny are also in a financial mess and struggling on the pitch. However desperate they all may be they'll refuse. This sounds like a bit of power play America franchise style and Conway's probably been told to go away. He fails to understand the fall out of the Bury collapse, the way Plastic Pete Winkleman destroyed a club moving into to MK of all places. Football fans are rivals but they stick together when officials and more importantly owners try and diddle a club out of existence or moving them. Conway needs to do his homework, we won't stand for it. We don't care if we're in the National League, as long as we have a home town club. If the club goes bankrupt we'll make sure it bleeds them as well. Oh and I'm still struggling to find any details of our owners and associates mass wealth. I'm sure it's all down a sofa in the condemned West Stand board room or between the rotting floorboards.
