I wouldn't sell anything linked to the ground to em without cast iron guarantees and safeguards being in place. Like stating it remains a 15-20k sports arena for the next million years. Let a meteor knock down the West Stand, not the tax payer.
It's not BMBC that have pulled out of negotiations over the sale of the ground it's not the Crynes that haven't paid what they owe having already got the price of the club lowered by strong arming a dying man and his family. The 80% mob are taking decisions about OUR football club that could threaten it's very existence and they haven't even paid for it yet. The are charlatans and parasites that seem to be going round Europe obtaining a controlling share in Football clubs in the hope that in a few years they can make a profit by selling them without actually spending any of their own money. That's the big problem we as fans of Barnsley FC have the 80% mob have very little if any of their own money tied up in Barnsley FC so they could let it wither and die without it adversely affecting them at all.
The most depressing part of this thread is the fact that I’m left wondering just how much sh*t needs to be poured over the heads of our fellow supporters, our Club and our town by this bunch of incompetent shysters before some of our fans see them for what they are. Conway et al need to leave before we can make any long term progress as a Football Club.
Some just don't get it some just don't want to get it. The 80% mob have got control over OUR Football club without using a penny of their own. The club is in grave danger simply because they don't have anything invested in the club no money invested no emotional investment nothing.
I get it, I've changed my tune regarding them over the last few months, but this ground sharing story is just nonsense. If it ever does happen it can only happen on the proviso that it's temporary. The FA don't allow clubs to just up-sticks and leave town anymore. It's a non-story and should be treated with the scepticism it deserves. Let's focus on the stuff that matters: what's the time frame on getting the west stand open again, for instance...
But what happens if the 80% mob give the FA the ultimatum that they let them move or they close the club like I said the 80% mob have nothing invested in the club so can carry out the treat and it will cost them nothing
The rental agreement is £1.5m this year, last year was zero, rising over the next 25 years to a total amount of £77m over the term of the lease. The big difference here is that this was financial engineering to provide capital to the club. No doubt in future years the rent will be waived or renegotiated if the Director still wants to fund the club from his personal wealth.
it seems like a "who'll blink 1st " tactic in the battle for buying the ground, trying to flush out the carpetbagger who stopped the sale and force the issue, west stand closed, little or just basic upkeep. we'll move the club and pay someone else rent in the mean time, you have no income, no team and an empty ground to maintain, your move
There are no circumstances in which I’d want to see BMBC selling the ground to this shower. None at all. What I would like to see the Council doing is invoking the terms of the lease, and if they are not being carried out, taking action against the lessee.
i'm not blaming anyone as i dont know all the facts, but i do know the council came in as partners to prevent the possible developing of a mini meadowhall on the site as this would effect the regeneration of the town centre, as it stands now bmbc has millions (?) of much needed cash tied up in to all intents and purposes what appears to be a white elephant to them
BMBC wont do owt, it'll cost money. They haven't even done owt about him who illegally dug up the canal at stairfoot.
It's got to point where I just shrug my shoulders now. Solidly in the relegation zone A manager albeit give him chance but if it goes wrong where back in schopp circle again No ground
I hate to agree but I know they wouldn't think twice about letting us go into administration if it was of benefit to them
Looking at the 'threat' to move to Bradford in practical terms: They would lose at least 75% of supporters so gate receipts would not cover rent. The would lose the Academy, training pitches, gym, physio rooms, offices and shop with most of the staff. Call their bluff. Offer Oakwell to existing local team, Rec, Worsboro, Frickley etc and we will start AFC Barnsley again and work OUR way back. Cryne family Barnsley Council, Supporters Trust on the board and fans put up whatever share money they can afford. Or they can all grow up and sort it out now. Rant over.
