Even with alcohol - what makes a person think it's a good idea to run on the pitch, assault a steward and then celebrate like you've just done something really positive? One from each side last night. It seemed like one of the stewards/security broke his arm trying to deal with the Swansea pitch invader, I saw him being taken away for treatment. And then our idiot was just a complete lesson in how not to human being.
There was an idiot in ESL towards the north stand who went over the wall to have a go and then someone was stupid enough to fight their battle with the stewards who should have thrown them out but let them stay.
Our stewards aren't tough enough to get shut of people who break the rules, so they get away with it which makes our so called security look weak and pathetic.
was watching this unfold ,more interesting than the match , bunch of half a dozen idiot kids , thankfully not near me ,stewards kept talking to them telling them to sit down etc , they looked high on something , took no notice , should have been ejected long before kid ran on pitch , possible fine for club .
There was a kerfuffle on queens rd after match, there was a guy laid out cold on the floor…hope he’s ok..not a good sight for my kids, they were petrified.
Stewards should be there to guide and direct not to Police people’s behaviour. Unfortunately it says more about society that we need to rely on these people.
The SGSA would disagree, it is clear the Stewards are there to reduce the risk of an incident and to offer the ability to report on an incident. I may be wrong but I highly doubt Doyle’s of BFC tell their Stewards at Induction they are expected to jump in and split fights up.
No they shouldn’t they are not a police force they are safety officials . The fact some have been used this way is cheap policing by clubs and authorities . The police have to go through rigorous training and background checks and are on probably more than twice what the stewards are on .
They wouldn't have got away with it in the seventies, lets just say them coppers used to enjoy their work
