JORDAN WILLIAMS POST-SWANSEA CITY Interviews Following our 2-0 defeat at home to Swansea City on Wednesday evening, Jordan Williams believes there were encouraging signs from the Reds despite the eventual result. Continue reading on the official site...
Another pi$$ poor player reaction. Absolutely epitomises our problem. Same platitudes week in week out. There isn’t a single player in the squad who’s willing to come out and roast their performances. Just a complete absence of leadership, ownership or passion. We’re going down without even laying a glove.
Like Brittain blaming his poor performances on Schopp ? Nowhere to hide for them now they can’t fool all the fans all the time .
“That was the game plan – be hard to beat; let them have the ball,” Well they certainly succeeded in letting them have the ball. I'm not sure that is the best way to win games though???
I've kind of made it a rule not to respond to club posts on social media platforms. Even if my comments are perfectly valid, it feels like I find myself being bundled in with the keyboard warriors on there. I'm finding it incredibly hard to resist right now though.
We tried to play like them first haif tippy tappy passing within our own half, if there had been two balls on the pitch I doubt each team would have left their own haif. Still we kept a decent, defensive, yet negative shape and got to haif time level second haif we tried to up the attacking which Swansea rubbed their hands at because it gave them more space to slot balls through and the rest is history. Thought Palmer coming off was a mistake. My Mom was Jordan Williams mainly for his first half performance. One of the worst games of football I have seen at Oakwell from an entertainment point of view and hope to God that sitting back and trying to nick one on the break isn`t our ploy at Peterbrough.
I don’t normally read or listen to any interviews given by players or management as they say the same things BLAH BLAH BLAH WAFFLE. If he genuinely believes the rubbish he as just churned out then I suggest we write off this season and accept we will finish rock bottom below Derby. Swansea never got out of first gear and looked like they were doing training exercises. By all means try to make us hard to beat but also bear in mind at some point we need to get hold of the ball in order to have any hope of scoring.
"We let them have the ball." Very poor tactics in my view. Hard to believe this was put to the players by the coach, but I assume it's true. If you have only 19% possession, which was our stat on Wednesday, your opportunity to score is obviously hugely reduced.
Especially when that 19% consists largely of throw ins, goal kicks and single touches which immediately give the ball back.
The 19% figure wasn't anything to do with tactics, it was how poor we were with the ball. We should've been able to get that up to 30-35% and cause them problems. The coach would have told them to hold their shape and let them pass it around in areas that aren't so dangerous. He wouldn't have told them to give it away the second they got a touch. Nobody in the midfield able to hold off a challenge and find a team mate. And apart from the run from Cole, our wide forwards offered nothing in the channels. Frieser looked like he had his boots tied together. Adeboyejo should've started ahead of him. But when we see the rarity that is a goal, we tend to drop the scorer for the next game.
Unbelievable stuff the game plan was let them have the ball be hard to beat? I give up. At home against a side who were mistable why not grow a pair and actually go out give it a go and take the game to them. Instead of closing down space not even trying to tackle was embarrassing to watch.
Jordan Williams was one of the best performers. That really says it all. He's better as a full back than wing back. The midfield were utter cack & the front line were little better. Cole the best of the bunch but was subbed? Weird scenes inside the goldmine.
One of the best performers, performed brilliantly to run away from Paterson to leave him a space big enough to drive the White Cross Circular through for the second goal.
Let the first without sin throw the first stone. Did you actually read my post? i.e. "Jordan Williams was one of the best performers. That really says it all." Irony is wasted on some people.
Compact and made them play down the sides isn't a good thing. Williams might see it as that, I saw it as they absolutely tore us to shreds down the sides and if they'd put a bit more effort in could have had a good 5 or 6
