Belenenses v Benfica.

7-0 to Benfica at half-time.

Due to a Covid outbreak, Belenenses had to play with nine men, including two 'keepers. No subs.

 

We'd have probably scraped a draw against them

7-0 with 2 keepers? Blimey.

 

I suppose it depends what the penalty is for not fulfilling the fixture.

 

Surely the farce started with this. :-

Before the game, though, Belenenses president Rui Pedro Soares insisted that his team had not requested a suspension and were in a proper condition to play.
"WHY NOT" surely that should have been the first action.

"We have 38 players registered and we trust them all," he said. "Therefore the decision is up to health authorities.

"We will wait and we are going to respect their decision."



13 players were diagnosed as positive. So 25 were available.
Not sure how many of those 38 were part of the 1st team squad.

 

Come to think of it, we should get him back.

He might be 70, and therefore ineligible for the spreadsheet, but I’d back him to score more goals than our current midfielders.
