I commented on here recently about complicating the game with new rules and was as usual shot down in flames.Well the offside today,in the last few minutes of the chelsea man u game was laughable.Ronaldho is 2 yards offside, allowed to play on,(which is stupid to start with) gets a corner and tuchel gets booked for complaining.Carry on Crouch.
You are absolutely spot on , it was totally ridiculous , not putting the flag up is not only infuriating but it risks players carrying on & potentially getting injuries & today could have cost a team a point & then booking a coach for pointing out the obvious was plain stupid .
I half understand why they do it when VAR is in use. If it's a close call, let the forward have an effort on goal, then if it results in a goal, let VAR check the offside decision. It saves the linesman's blushes if he gets it awfully wrong and stops an attack. No idea why they do it in our division though. Makes no sense. The 'decision' in today's game that you're referring to is an error by the linesman, he should have raised his flag for offside before the corner was given, if he thought Ronaldo was offside.
One day a player who is offside and allowed to continue is going to get seriously injured by an opposition player who takes him out just as a "goal" is about to be scored. All for the sake of a stupid rule that says the linesman can't flag straight away.
