Ever the optimist but I think if we signed Jesus we'd be a miracle too far.
Although there is one in Manchester. Now I wonder if they'd loan him to us..............

Why would these owners take on loan players we have no hope of buying, merely to improve the value of someone else's player. No resale value to us, they won't do it. More chance of the Chesterfield kid. He'd be no help and have no impact for us in the Championship but might make them some profit within a couple of years.
    Gotta get with the program.

I’d rather bring Nathan Doyle out of retirement, at least he put in a shift and never hid.

Taking poor old Vita as an example, we don't even try and improve them, or even play them.

Not if he has to rush off (and get subbed) to keep within his curfew and wear his tag whilst playing lol.

I remember last time we were relegated and people were saying we need more experience in defence in comes matt Mills with the turning ability of a jumbo jet. Although I do agree we need experience in midfield but someone who is going to actually benefit the team but finding that will be a hard task for us with a small budget.

Tough it out and don't waste any money. It will most likely be in vain. Take the hit and prepare for League 1.

If that's the case, I struggle to see the benefit for them of us being in league 1?

Player scoring 25 in league one worth more than one scoring 8 in championship basically

see Moore, Pinnock etc - fairly sure they have more player sales based on L1 than champ

Is that not more down to circumstance though? Both the players you mention were in the final year of their contract when we sold them. Had they got 2 years left, we might have seen them play at least a season in the Championship before they moved on. Mowatt and Davies for example, could have been moved on upon promotion, but they weren't.

I get what you're saying, but I think it's as much to do with contract situations as it is performances on the pitch.

I'm not adverse to us selling players for a substantial profit, if we adequately replace them. But that's where we've been falling down. It's a model that can still breed progression, but only if done right. It's been a while since we signed a player that you feel was better than the player they replaced.

It's better signing players on the up. It's also easier to sell players that are in form.

The problem is we've signed players that are just cogs in a machine. If you take out their drive mechanism. You're left with a stuttering, misfiring banger patched together with sticky tape.
